Well.. unfortunately the players union has already filed a motion requesting mediation. Soooooo.. I will not be surprized in the least to see all three players back on the court in the near future. Remember professional sports is not about sportsmanship, it is about show me the money. Between greedy owners and overpaid athletes, sportsmanship has ended up riding on the back of the bus.

NBA=National Basketball Assn.
Brawl = an incident last Friday where 3 basketball players for the Indiana Pacers went after a fan in the stands that had tossed some beer on one of them. It turned into a brawl. Consequently suspensions were handed out. Check out cnnsi.com for the whole story..

OK. Happens here sometimes, v. unusual between players and spectators,
though. I think that a criminal charge every so often would alter players
attituded. Merely suspending a highly-paid player of for a short
time does not seem very helpful in preventing these incidents.

Well they are saying that some charges may come from this.. but that is to be seen. Mostly it will be civil suits. But... they have no one to blame but themselves. The athletes are pampered from the word go.. They have the attitude that even if they do something wrong they are priviledged enough to get away with it. Please understand that I am not making a general statement coverring all athletes. There are many out there that are doing wonders for their respective community and practicing true sportsmanship. Unfortunately they are not the ones gettting the publicity.. okay.. rant over again

Let's look at the bozo named Artest:
Artest was benched for two games earlier this month for asking Pacers coach Rick Carlisle for time off because of a busy schedule that included promoting a rap album.
Artest was suspended twice by the NBA last season, once for leaving the bench during a fracas at a Pacers-Celtics playoff game; the other for elbowing Portland's Derek Anderson. During the 2002-03 season, Artest was suspended five times by the NBA and once by the Pacers for a total of 12 games.
Artest also once grabbed a television camera and smashed it to the ground after a loss to the Knicks two years ago.
I think they should just kick this guy out of the league.

oh.. trust me Tombstone.. I am not attempting to defend his actions or his teammates at all.. I agree with you completely. I am just stating facts. The punishment never seems to fit the crime when it comes to professional athletes, especially basketball players. Sure there have been athletes in other sports that have gone off the deep end.. Ray Lewis, Caruthers for murder in the NFL off the top of my head.. and of course Pete Rose and his lifetime ban from baseball, couple of hockey players proscueted for assault.. but it just seems like hoops players have a real corner on the market...
