I'm a genuinely 'nice' person.... those that know me from elsewhere will know that I go out of my way to help people forfeiting my own time to ensure others are happy and am very much a peace maker....

The people who aren't nice to me have all been female for some reason.... I'm a very forgiving person though and take quite a lot from people, but I only take so much before I react....

I don't play games, I'm straight talking and I'll deal with that person directly, nasty people usually need an audience for their cruelty and someone to hide behind when they can't defend themselves from the things they say.... I'll come alone and demand it stops... and if it doesn't stop, I'll do something about it.... Never violence though, that solves nothing.... if it's in RL it usually stops after being aproached and they realise I'm not taking it....If I'm on a forum, it's a little harder as some peeps think the saftey of a screen gives them the right to be a cruel as they like..... in these cases I let the board leaders take care of things

They forget that the people they are hurting are real, with real feelings and real lives!

So in answer to your question... NO!... you shouldn't be nice to people who aren't nice to you, why on earth should anybody have to deal with that?.... on the other hand though. you shouldn't be nasty back either, it makes you just as nasty a person as they are and you lose if you play that game....you should deal with that person in a sensible rational way and stop people like that from continuing to hurt others.....

I don't take rudeness very seriously most of the time. Sometimes the person may not have even meant to be rude. If someone is rude all the time then that is a problem. I am not shy about telling people just what I think of them. I can be rude too...if that's the game they want to play. I can "out rude" them.

If I don't like someone I stay well away but never intentionally go out of my way to hurt anyone.

I like to think everyone could be nice to each other,but that isn't going to happen either.

I have been guilty of not being nice a few times.

I am not perfect:-3 but like to think I have learnt from my mistakes.:-6

Funny I was just thinking about this. It would seem natural to dislike someone that disliked you because its an attack on your person, your existance.

I lean towards the way you feel but not always.

BTS for instance was an ass to me and I just jumped right in to the mix allowing myself to retaliate. I did that because I have no personal interest vested in him. Hes dispensable and I never cared for his personality anyway so what the hell, its kind of fun.

Floopy got mad at me awhile back and I realized my feelings towards her didnt change. I still liked her and respected her. Even if shed written me off my thoughts of her would have remained the same.

So for me its about how I feel about the person.

On the other hand in my job remaining professional isnt an option, I show respect to everyone and without fail I almost always get respect back.

Im jealous your unable to let people who you have no interest in or even dislike get to you or leave an impact. Im the other way entirely, always trying to please and I care 100% what people think of me physically, mentally and personally.

Its drives my hubby up the wall and if he knew that at times iv'e been left in tears due to someones harsh or critical words on a pc, I think he would rip the plug off the modem. Is this a woman thing or is it just a Chezzie thing.

Do you know I have let people on the net give me a sleepless night, one hurtful comment or a someone being nasty and mean can have my mind working overtime. When its so easy to be nice, why would you purposely choose to be nasty???

When i first joined, especially on the political threads where it can get quite heated, i was quite surprised about how open people were.

After a while, i found it a breath of freah air really, that people could disagree bitterly and debate another day with no hard feelings.

I like that.

The first time gmc called me a "Daily Mail" reader, i took it quite seriously.

Chez I think you know me pretty well now and know we are alike in so many ways.So many of your comments could have been made by me.People can hurt you online and Ive had my share of those sleepless nights you speak about.Some I guess are just nasty because its their nature or just plain jealous of you for whatever reason.I try to be nice to people and have been slapped in the face more than once because of itThing is Im to old now.......hell did I just say that:-5......to change and if somebody dont like me.....well thats their problem as the people that matter in my life here and in the RW...... you being one of them im proud to say......know the real me and yes I know I can be a right pain at times.....as Spot knows to well lol.....and I know Im far from perfect....very far at times.....but I have a few things going for me.......I better go and think what;):D:driving:

I've had dreams about this FG and some of the nasty things people say. And some people are really creepfaces here, but you have to get past them and focus of the ones that you love to chit chat with. Yeah, their are some old farts here on the FG, but I have learned to ignore them and have fun with my friends instead. Taking that month off in August did help. Helped alot.

I know how you feel Chezzie...I'm the same way. I wear my heart on my sleeve and get emotional about lots of things...especially about my country and the remarks made here sometimes about my home and what jerks we Yanks are:p

I'm not a debater and would never get involved in a Political or Religious debate...it would upset me toooooo much. So I don't post on those threads. I don't like to constantly argue when no one is listening to your point of view.

I just love FG members so much....well...maybe 90% of the members... and am in bits sometimes when I think that I've upset someone or visa versa. You are all as special to me as my RL mates. I've also had many a sleepless night here:p

But that's who I am....and seems like I will always be that way...loving, emotional and always way too sensitive:o

there are good and bad on any forum and alot of crap does go on, what I hate is the allowing of forwarding pm's to other friends, and some here do that out of spite and sheer enjoyment, meanwhile you have no idea who is forwarding what you say to others, pm's are that, 'private messages' and should never be forwarded unless its to a mod to report it.......but that is my opinion, sometimes it can be safer to get an email address, but those can always be forwarded.

some days are good, some days are really bad, staying away from some of the debates is a good thing or pay the price for your input. Taking time off, really does help as you said, there will always be problems on any forum....stick with who you believe in and have a blast.

there have been alot of remarks I do not believe in, and I stay away from things that would bother me to avoid an attack, but all in all, I love the people here and have made tons of really good friends.

Creeps like that will eventually be shown to the door here on FG, just don't get involved with them and allow them to drag you down to their level. I just stay away from people like that in general and never hold any grudges against anyone no matter what they may have done to me.
