British foxes still being slaughtered needlessly after the government banned it.
As you will see by my pics on the Forum head, i have a love affair with foxes. They are probably my passion in British wildlife.
A report in The Daily Mail yesterday said more foxes are being slaughtered SINCE the government made it against the law.
I personally along with half this country battled long and hard for many years to see this barbaric sport of hunting the unedible, made illegal under the Blair government.
What's going on? :-1

Did you hear that the British Post Office has just recalled their latest stamps?
Well, they had photos of Manchester United players on them - folk couldn't figure out which side to spit on.

Amazing the government even had to ban it. I mean who would want to slaughter British foxes anyway ?

Getting back to the thread origins, I thought that there was a total ban on foxhunting?

I'm kind of with the Hunt Guys, the traditional hunt weeded out the sick and the old and generally drove the youngsters on to new ground away from farms.
Has anyone ever walked into a field of sheep at lambing time that has had a visit from a fox overnight. The fox kills for pleasure as well as necessity, a bit like man really.

Here in the States, deer hunting season has just begun. Almost everyone I know has accidently hit a deer with a vehicle. They are everywhere. Hunting is used supposedly to control the population.
But I, personally, hate to see an animal that has died violently. By vehicle, or by weapon. Foxes, deer, ducks..................it's just so sad to me.

I heard a list of states in order of which are most likely to hit a deer. First was something weird like Arkansas.
Anyway Im out in the country driving at night a lot. Its constantly on my mind. Almost hit two the other night, missed them by about ten feet.

I wonder if any of you have found the bone thin starved bodie's of 4 week old fox cubs where their mother didn't come home?
If you look at one of the pic's i posted at the top of the forum list, you will see a black cat eating with a fox.
This is very normal because they do not kill for fun. I have studied, fed, observed and even rescued these animals.
A normal sight for me is to go out into the feild at night with their food, to find next door's tabby cat sitting their waiting as well.
The alpha pack leader, Clarkson, who we named after the **** who deliberately runs over them for fun, could take that cat any time he wanted.
Foxes who do not have the luxery of a twit like me buying chicken for them, have to hunt for food, that is with out question. Extensive research has found, the fox is actually shy and timid.
What happens most of the time, is the fox entering a chicken house, kills as many of the birds as possibele, Not for fun, it is instinct to return after carrying away the first one to his den, to collect the other dead chickens. (They can only carry one at a time in their mouths). More often than not, the owner is alerted from the noise and the fox is unable to return. The owner then finds most of the chickens dead, giving the false impression that it's done it purely for fun.
I as you the same question, i asked a Tory M.P. in the 80's.
If fox hunting was carried out by Hell's angels, wearing leather jackets, swilling beer, on Harley Davidson's, tearing up the countryside...... It would have been banned centurie's ago. Surely????

No, Hells Angels didn't exist years ago..... it was purely a hypothetical scenario. The Tory twit agreed with me at the time.
Tell me, what would you have done, if the cubs huddled in the road, were puppie's or kittens abandoned there??

It is a very un-known fact that foxes can only re-produce if they are feeding well.
An under-fed fox can not re-produce... another reason for it's survival.

This country made fox hunting illegal due to pressure on the government by an over-whelming majority of the public who find it abhorant.
My point was, if it's been made illegal, why are they still being hunted and idiots flouting the law?
It's illegal to kill children. What if people who hate kids, flouted the law?

The only reason I would pick up kittens or puppies is so they don't grow to be feral themselves. That's a given. Plus we have the crossing of dogs and foxes here. Making Larger more vicious foxes .
As you know, Britain doesn't have Wallaby or Kangaroo but over the years huge amounts of them have escaped from parks etc and bred in the wild. There are area's where Wallaby are often seen in the wild. The sicko's here hunt then for a laugh as well.
Where i live at the moment, there is Parakeet colonie's in the Gloucestershire countryside. Also with the import of exotic birds of Prey over the year's, they too have escaped and the American 'Harris Hawk' is another one breeding in the wild.
I wonder how the UK will be in say 100 years when the government decides that they too are vermin??

I always remember my sister staying with me. On the first night, i said to her that i had better start making the jam sanwiches for the foxes who show up around one in the morning.
She just said "Yeah, right Jules".
An hour later, i went to the kitchen and got the bread, spread and jam out and began making them.
She said "OMG, Your actually doing it"
Still in disbelief, she came out with me to watch them eat them....... She thinks i'm mental :wah::wah:

I know, I run my mouth again. Or I should say keyboard. Fox are beautiful animals. I read a article about a fox who used to kill hunting dogs by dodging in front of a locomotive when being persued. Fox always made it, dogs didn't.
