Good lord yes, for the second meet I even invited any lurkers to just show up on the day. I'm keen on jimbo getting this Fourth FG UK Meet to happen but we know from experience how difficult it is, there have been at least three tries that petered to nothing beside the three that happened.

Go for it jimbo, you can make it work.

Well, I'm keen to go. How about if it was venued in London. It's easy for any-one in any part of the country to get to via coach or train.

My brother has some friends who have clubs there.... Maybe he could help us out with a venue??? For very low cost.

Or just a thought, my friends in the RBL might help with a hall or some-thing??

I would love to go but I am still struggling to get my head above water. So, I'm out of the running for FG meets for a while.

But to anyone who has never been to a FG meet and is thinking whether they should or not, GO. The two I've been to have been a riot.

Has anyone thought of taking a wireless laptop along to link up with the rest of FG live.

Actually Jimbo, me fave fella on FG, I would love to come. It all depends on things happening here (my RW), and of course finances. It may be that I could arrange to have a family visit to relatives in London (Forest Hill) or relatives in Bromley. But it all boils down to finances and also the health of my brother and my brother-in-law. I will have a talk with the boss and see what we can come up with, if anything. :-3 Also I can't remember if it is to be a one day or weekend 'do'. :D:-4

In any event Jim, it would probably turn out to be a last minute decision, so I hope booking places isn't a condition, or paying a deposit or anything like that.

How would the venue be paid for and by whom? Unless a venue can be found that would not require payment, which would of course be ideal. (a lot of places do that, to get the customers in and buy drinks and bar snacks).

That's what would be ideal and i hope to call in some favours and see if i can get some-where. I will make some calls tomorrow and put the feelers out.

With the ridculous cost of trains now, i can reccomend National Express coaches to Victoria Station. If you book two weeks in advance and especially in winter, it is at a reduced price. They are really comfy now and have toilets on boaard.

Most citie's run a coach hourly to Victoria.

Well my husband Chris uses National Express Coaches, and from Nottingham to Victoria in London only costs about £11 return (he's an OAP). It's a helluva lot cheaper than rail, yes it takes longer to get there but hey! what's the worry of that ? He's used it this week to visit sisters in Sussex ! Trouble is, we would all want to go to visit relatives - Chris, and son Andy, me and our dog (German Shepherd) - that would bump the cost up and I'd have to find out if dogs are permitted to travel and I suspect they may not be grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. In which case we would travel by car, there again the petrol costs would be very high (it's a Volvo T5 !). However, I could use my bus pass on the ordinary local buses to get to a meet, I expect. But I shall have to wait till Chris returns to discuss all this.

I spoke to the Chairman of the RBL just now..... Can't promise anything but he's having a ring round to see if we can get a room with a bar in a RBL club some-where in London. The drinks and nibbles we buy would pay for any cost of the hall. He should come yp with something, he's very good like that. If he says he will do some-thing, he will.

Stop giggling there lass, this is a serious sport.:yh_shame

This is an excerpt from the BusinessBalls' website.

"In a recent Hobgoblin advert for real ale, a grotesque figure in a pub, cradling a pint of beer, sneers over his shoulder at a group of callow drinkers: "What's the matter, Lager-Boy? Afraid you might taste something?" The gibe is just. Have you ever wondered why the lager mass-producers market their stuff as best drunk ice-cold? It is because cold anaesthetises your taste buds. To chill beer to near freezing point is like injecting lignocaine into your tongue. It stops the punter finding out the depressing truth - that there is nothing there to taste. Drink lager at a temperature at which nerves work, and the manufacturers would be rumbled."

The beer should, not be warmer than room temperature and is usually as cool as the cellar it is served from. I prefer it cool to slightly cold but not so cold that you cannot taste it properly. This is the real business of real ale, its taste. There are as many different flavours of real ale as there are breweries. The above site mentions over 60 breweries. You can now add to this a range of real cider beers which is another taste experience altogether. And now I bet you're really excited.:-3

It is a healthier drink than most other ales. In fact, it is the only type of beer I can drink without a particularly embarassing medical condition occurring.

(It still intrigues me that you use the term 'oy' the way the Cocknies used to use it.):D

Oh I taste my beer very well thank you mister smartie pants :wah: What can I say, living here in the north country room temperature for many of us is DARN COLD, so that is how come we drink our beer "ice cold" hehehehehe

Oiy now don't get me wrong I am not talking your dull mainstream beers like Molson Canadian, Coors lite (bloody pee that is), Budwiser etc. I am talking more your full body Rickards Red, or a nice Steamwhistle IPA (they do have a great taste honest), or a Big Rock Traditional Ale, XO, or Grasshopper. We have some kick ass Honey Browns too, and let us not forget our own icon of beers, Alexander Keiths IPA where in hades is Fisher he would support me here ahahahaha

Sorry Jimborino we hijinxed your thread.
