Just turning off a light when you leave a room and turning off everything in your house "ON standby" tV's, videos, cd players, sound system etc. when you leave for work, would actually save you money. The figures worked out, prove it would lower your electricity bill from a third to halving the total bill.!!!!!!!!!!
So why not do it? It makes financial sense.
I have to admit that i am the world's worst for not turning thing off.
My hubby's daily sayings are:
What's in the washing machine?
Are you going back in that room?
Are you watching this t.v.?
Who left the fridge door open?
Are you using this hi-fi?
Why's the front door open and the heating on?
Do you need all the radiators on just to dry a pair of knickers?

Hey, we need one of those.
He also says that coming home at night, our house looks like a home game under floodlight.
And get this.. I leave the t.v. or radio on for the dogs, and the lights if it's dark and i go out.

all of our lights are always turned off when not in use.
t.v. is also shut off when not in use
outside lights are solar and including our porch light.
washer is always properly set to small, medium or large load.
most clothes are hung to dry
furnance is set low at 69 and we dress warmly
air condtioning is set low at 69
all doors are cocked and sealed so furnance/air doesn't come on as much
doors also have a band on the bottom
windows are new and are locked in winter/hence no drafts to set furnance on more.
