Does anyone have any knowledge of the 'births, deaths, and marrages' department in the UK? I have started doing my family tree, and being new to it, I could do with all the help I can get! My grandfather was born in Bristol, and I think my great grandfather was born in Chepstow, in Wales. I would love to hear from anyone who is interested in geneology, and is willing to help, thank you in advance.
So formal of me :wah:

Seek out some Mormons in your area. They are into geneology big time and can be real helpful.

Found you!!!
Do you get 'Friends re-united' in Aus as they do a track your gene's website?
Failing that, i live in Bristol at the moment, if you pm your details, i could phone births and deaths and marraiges for you.
My father was born in Ireland and we recently traced our ancestors. We found out that we had a coat of arms as well, we were well impressed.
Be prepared for shocks, joy and dissapointment though.
It's great fun to do and frustrating when you hit a brick wall. I'd be glad to help if i can. I could even go to the church where they were born or married in Bristol to see what they have got.
My mother had a little brother who died aged 2. We finally found his graveyard.

You know Jules, I didnt think of Friends reunited, and I am on that site, great idea thank you. Do you know if there is a Confectionary business in Bristol called Sun Confectionary? It was my great grandfathers, probably not around anymore though. I found out yesterday where they lived in Bristol, 2 Pembroke St

It's nearly midnight here in Blighty but i can google Bristol tomorrow for the confectionary and Pembroke Street is about 20 minutes drive from my house, so i could pop along for a nose and let you know what it is now and if anyone remembers the confectionary. No problem.

Pembroke St is where they lived, the shop and factory were bombed during the war, just wondered if it may have lived on. If its not to much trouble Jules that would be great, I would like to know what is in Pembroke St now, I looked on Google earth, but it wasnt really clear what was along there, I think its residential, and industrial, Thank you, you are a sweetie

I just googled confectionaty in bristol and of course, they are listing all the retail shops as well, so there's quite a few. If you got a location for the factory, i can drive out there and have a look

All I can tell you about the factory is that it was flattened during the bombing, so the original building wont be there

I would only be guessing but I think the first map on that page would be the one that covered the bombing of the Sun Confectionary building. Such a vital industry to confectionary :wah:
