I guess they are like guns, they make some people feel safe and secure. But the facts are that most all home burglaries take place when the owners are not home and by the time any police or security people arrive, the thieves are long gone. Then, most home owners have insurance for theft. The various systems are not cheap and people that market them use that FEAR FACTOR, like religion. There are 3100 individual homes in the community that I live in and 15% have alarms. The police department said that in 2007 there were 9 reported incidences of theft, mostly due to people leaving their garage door open at night.

They are expensive, I had a salesman last month tell me all about it. It would not work for my home, I know my husband would trip the alarm off all the time, by accident.

Burgler Alarm subject - mmm, went out the other night to the front porch and saw a raccoon the size of a large cat. My yard is so dark at night, a burgler would probs kill himself on one of Quin's toys:wah: which would trigger the dog next store to freak out. I don't even go into my back yard at night. But as far as the raccoon, no way would a burgler come near my house and besides what's he gonna steal? A Tonka truck?:wah:

A girl at work set off our work alarm. I can see the police station from work it is so close. By the time I got down there, I stood in the middle of the street LMAO as she was horrified at it saying, "Step away from the building." Both cop cars were in front of the station. I went in, deactivated the alarm, and the cops never did come. :-5 I don't see much use in having an alarm around here.

Yeah, I live on a very quiet street. My neighbor who is connected to my house was like "man, this street is quiet". Not stunned one bit as it took hubs & I a few years to get to know the street. Quiet but loyal neighbors are a plus.

I have a home security alarm system

I wouldn't be without one.

I call the Co. before leaving on Vacation - call Police as soon as alarm is triggered.

at least ( they) won't get away with everything.

I've never had a problem with theft or the Security Co...

Knock on wood...
