FG must have a fair share of Insomniacs. When I am posting at night here in California I see some in the UK still up, and it's the middle of the night there.

Are you a insomniac? Take anything for it?

Been this way on and off all of my life.

what does work is Robaxacet with codeine....you have to ask your pharmacist for it because it has codeine, its not placed on the shelf....you do not need a prescrition for this.

but I buy the generic kind, its much cheaper.

It is a back muscle relaxer, actually its good for me, as my back is bad, but it also relaxes all of your other muscles....and with the codeine, it makes me very drowsy and I have good sleep.

I do not find this addictive as sleeping meds are.

what also really helps is to have a very small fan beside your bed on your nightstand........this is a soothing sound, and you automatically listen to him..........hence makes whatever is on your mind disappear. If I find the fan to loud, I cover it with a facecloth so the noise is just a quiet hum

never take baths or showers before bed........people believe is soothing.......its not, it pumps up your heart rate.............which makes you more awake

reading is another good thing, this also takes whatever is on your mind off it,'

caffeine and smoking are a given.

do not go on the computer, you may think its relaxing, its not, again, its making you think..............you need to be completely relaxed to sleep.

hope these tips help.

I have rarely slept through the night since having kids.

Sleepytime tea works good or chamomile tea, it's very relaxing. A hot shower helps too. :-6

or drinking lots of beer in the evening.....:lips: :wah:

its not what you think, only a small amount of it, not like whats in prescription ones..,

you can also buy Robaxacet just regular with no codeine....its sold on

the shelve...........its relaxes muscles and does it well!

and the computer, people don't realise it and it seems relaxing, but try going to bed afterwards.........your mind is wide awake.

it stimulates your mind and heartrate, go and relax for an hour before going to bed after being on a computer.

Yes, one of those Brits up all night is me!!!!!

I've been like it since i was a child.

I don't have any links but i did read a report once that said it could be an inherited gene.

I am sick of Doctors trying to 'Cure' me at my age.

My Doc is very good. He doesn't like prescribing me what he does but he knows i'm not likely to abuse them, so i do have a fair wallop at night.

I have tried most available on the market but the combination that seems to work for me is Tamazapam and Amiltryptiline. That is until i've forgotton to put my repeat prescription in and find i have run out.

Over the years i have tried all the advice from warm baths with camomile to the herbal remedie's. Sorry, but it's hard drugs for me or nothing! :(:(

I'm with you on that Betty!!! But I take sleep meds, and still have a hard time going to sleep until I'm so tired I can hardly walk straight. Being here on the computer makes me tired too, I just don't go into any "thinking" threads. :wah:
