Trying to get through a moment

Post by devist8me »

I quit smoking 7 months and 1 day ago (I have a program that tells me this everyday on my computer).

I've been staying with inlaws for a week. 2000 square feet on main level. One person smokes 2 packs a day, two others smoke a pack a day, various family members who have visited are heavy smokers. In other words, LOTS OF SMOKE IN THE AIR.

Most of the time, I can ignore it. My brother in law just sat down 5 feet from me and lit up.

Drool....

Isn't it odd, the way it's always there as a tug. I stopped a couple of times since I started but that never stopped me wanting one.

I'm not sure how long it is since I had one. Since January?

What I do know is that if I have one I'll have a couple of months worth before I realize the only thing stopping my chest from hurting is the narcotic effect of the cigarettes, and that everything I wear goes into the washer smelling of the stuff. The one isn't worth the weeks of consciously stopping again.

well done to you for not smoking

its as if people dont want you to be able to give up something that they cant

if you ever want to have a really cheap night out just buy yourself a diet coke and tell all your mates that drink that your not drinking any more ,every one panicks and buys you a drink :wah::wah::wah:

thanks dude. What's worse, is my father in law (ex 2 pack a day smoker) sits in a chair all day on oxygen, while all those smoke flies around him.

My hubby uses your free drinks idea. He doesn't drink. So when people start teasing him about not drinking, he just says he's a recovering alcoholic. They then get all apologetic and don't give him crap about not drinking lol.

That's my fear. I still have dreams, 2-3 nights a week, that I have started again.

Hang in there you can do it.

Somedays you will want to grab a cigarette out of someones hand & smoke it .

Other days you will love the smell of the freshly lit ciggy.

Then most days it won't worry you at all.

Keep on going you are doing well.

You can do it D....:-6Believe me....If I can so can you.

But it's hard...very hard....I gave up smoking 20 years ago and will never smoke a cig again. :-6Now, I love to watch people smoke and smell the aroma of the cig:wah: But, it doesn't entice me to smoke again. I know how dangerous it is:p I am addicted to cigs:(

Sometimes when I'm at a party, I like to smoke one little, sweet, thin, tipped cigar. I don't inhale and only take a few drags... and then I put it out. I don't do this often, but it feels good:D:rolleyes:

I am so proud of my hubby. He quit after smoking many many years. He hasn't puffed since July. He's my hero. :)
