We went to a restaurant last night, & when I went into the men's room to wash my hands (Old timers in FG know I'm a "compulsive obsessive hand washing" freek) I was very suprised. It was the first men's room where almost everything in there was fully automated. Automatic sensors for Urinal, Water faucet, even for first time "soap" dispenser, & Hand paper towel dispenser, & or Hot Air dryer. Did not have to touch any of those ammenitities, just pass hands in front. But, full automation was not quite there yet, as I still had to "touch" (using dispensed paper towel) & pull door handle to exit! Well, One can only hope for an electric eye sensor, to eventually open the door, at least on the way going out! :)

*dreaming*

Imagine an automated house, where they take the dity dishes and wash them for you, and wash the clothes. I know they have the robot vacuums, but my kids would only step on it and break it to pieces by mistake. Just like the Jetsons!

I love the toilets that flush automatically when you stand up. It just creeps me out thinking who all had their hands on the flusher. The paper towel on the door handle is a trick my dad taught me. Imagine how many people exit that restroom without washing their hands and touch the doorknob. Probably just the ones cooking and serving the food.:wah:

If we only "really" knew just how bad it was we would never eat out ever again.

The cooks & servers don't have time to washup, they have to get back to work quick!!!

Many years ago when I was younger, I covered for a sick friend of mine ("For one day") in a semi fast food restaurant with a customer sit down service counter.

I had to fill up the empty Salt & Pepper shakers, the empty ketchup bottles from a 5 gallon vat, napkin holders, roll knife & fork in a napkin, & other miscelaneous tasks. While performing these boring tasks, I got a chance to observe the following. There was the cooks grill behind the service counter where all the food was cooked, the floor below there was filthy with old spilled oils mixed with sawdust to sop it up, and some other unknown dried up krud. Well the cook let a Hot Dog get away & it rolled off the grill & it fell on the nasty floor in that krud. He looked around and saw no "customer" saw that, so he just picked it up & put it right back on the grill. (Didn't even brush if off) Then some kid threw up all over one of the tables, & the Bus Boy mopped it up with his wet towel. Then he went to buss another table & used to same towel to wipe off that table. Uck! I saw Buss boys salvaging un-used butter patties, rolls, pickle bowls & napkins to re-set at new tables. Then a waitress working the tables, saw a fly on it & slamed her Towel down on it, shook the fly off, she then proceeded to use that towel to clean off another table. Then another waitess carrying a bowl of soup in each hand, put the soup down in front of the customers, & her thumb was in one of the bowls in the soup. After turning around, she then put her thumb in her mouth & licked off the soup. I wonder how many times had she done that before that bowl I saw! Too many more things to continue to mention. Only God knows what goes on in the Kitchen "behind closed doors"

So it boils (no punn intended) down to this, if you want to eat out in restaurants, don't look around too closely at the goings on, or you will get grossed out!!!! :wah:

-I hear you cars, I carry the hand sanitizer in my purse , and in my car, and in my fishing box, etc. You ever look at bacteria under a micropscope((((( YIKES)))))

-It could give you nightmares!

-I'm with you on the automated door thingy for restrooms, seriously, if they have automated sinks, your in the clear, with sensored dryers, but some goof ball still has not figured out (You gotta touch the door!!!) This is where you find yourself trying to stretch your shirt or dress long enough to act as a glove, I mean lets face it, what if someone didnt wash, and you KNOW there are !!!!!

I use my hand sanitizer thank you so much, and I also pack a small thing of diaper wipes(My son is 14 years old) in my purse for this purpose of opening the door, but then you are faced with touching the trash because its almost always overflowing onto the ground. My heart goes out to ya cars, I truly understand.

Hi Jas, yes it's difficult for us. As for the door touchy thingy, just use a paper towel on the handle, & if the janitor of the washrooms is not smart enough to put an open garbage can right next to the door (as some of them are smart enough to do) then you just throw the used towel behind the door! (It's nasty, but I'v seen it from others before mine goes there?) If they see enough towels there, they will eventually put a can there. :-2

I was in a public bathroom a few days ago and there was a guy in the stall doing some nasty business.....real dirty work, sound effects, 3D aroma the whole 9 yrds. Im washing my hands and he walks out of the stall leaving his DNA behind for the next victim and never washes his hands.

I just wish Monk had been there.

Reminds me of one of my dads jokes:

A guy goes out to a outhouse out in the country to crap and when he gets done sees there is NO TP.

He is looking around and see a sign above a hole. It says "Wipe butt with fingers and insert into hole below, they will be cleaned by human mouth"

So heck he had no other options so he wipes with his fingers inserts them and on the other side is a monkey, trained to hit anything that comes thru the hole with a ball peen hammer....................WACK!!!!!!

The guy by reflex sticks his hand in his mouth to stop the pain........ Sure enough the sign didn't lie:D
