Deceased celebrity?

What on earth is the BBC thinking. This is just going too far.A New Zealand pizza chain has withdrawn a Halloween promotion that showed skeleton animations of three deceased celebrities dancing on graves.

Hell Pizza's advert showed animations of Sir Edmund Hillary, actor Heath Ledger and the Queen Mother dancing to Michael Jackson's song Thriller. [...] The firm is no stranger to controversy. Last year, it showed Hitler in a Nazi salute with a pizza in his hand. Previously, it has distributed condoms alongside its "Lust" pizza.

Very disrespectful, but then, I hated the Quizno ads here that had dead and stuffed hamsters dancing around too. I know I would never patronize that business. :-3 The dead should be left alone in peace, there are other ways to advertize.

Perhaps a letter of protest to the BBC should be in order. They can't possibly get away with calling the Queen Mother a "deceased celebrity", it's the height of poor taste. Someone should be fired for printing that.

Seriously, you should do that! I think that rather than thinking whether something may be offensive or not, they think 'Let's just do it' and wait to see if somebody complains. That's how they 'get away with it'.

I complained about an ad for Nat West bank a few years ago and the ad was removed!

She is deceased-which she is-and she is a famous person-which is what a celebrity is.

Members of the Royal Family, including members of the Royal Family who have Passed On, are not celebrities. They are Royalty, an entirely separate concept which has no overlap with celebrity whatsoever.

The royal family are all celebrities whether they like it or not. The fact that they are royalty is why they are celebrities in the first place. If they don't like it they can give it up and go earn a living doing something else. Your complaint is spurious.

she's still a celebrity-albeit a deceased one. That we now have people who make a living out of being a professional celebrity is neither here nor there. Of course Diana is a more famous deceased celebrity than the queen mother. Maybe the pizaa company should have used her-"pizza's to die for".
