Who actually reads an entire post?

Post by Odie »

Sometimes I find some do not really read a post fully, and will just post for the sake of it.

Some will look at a pic posted, but the post that was written...had nothing to do with the pic.

In some of the longer threads I do forget what that thread was about from the beginning post!:-5

even some of my threads, posters do not refer to what I have posted, and will just post something else right after it.

not being critical at all, do it myself!

must start to read entire post and 'first post' on a thread!:-5

c'mon, fess up eh!:wah:

:wah: I've noticed that too, Odie. We need to be reminded of proper forum procedures, but I think Tombstone is busy asserting his identity.

I have been quilty of just "jumping in" and posting before I read the other posts and wound up just embarrassimg myself. I do think we need to take time and read before we post. Perhaps, scrolling back to previous posts in a thread and checking them out as well.

We've got to slow down and smell the posts, I mean, the roses. :wah:

Good thread. I am often frustrated when asked something which I've already posted.

I read everything, mostly. I will speed read at a slow rate through short posts that simply agree or disagree with another post. But I was taught this way.

I speed read when I'm studying or reading magazines and newspapers. But I treat messages in a respectful way. When I write a message, everything there is written intentionally. I know some people can suffer from tautology, but I treat their posts the same. I consider that everything in the message was written intentionally.

I think it's synonymous with only half listening to someone. It's rude and discourteous. Plus it will become evident at some point in the conversation when a question is asked about something that has already been stated.

As far as I am aware I do read the all the post and try to post a reply that's relevant, obviously theirs times posts go off topic and were all guilty of that lol...

On FOC I read back every time as so much goes on there you can easily miss something which could be a delicate matter of a loved one being ill or someone needing comfort and shows big style when peeps post and havent bothered to read back, but since were nearing the 45.000 post its not expected :wah::wah::wah::wah:

I love posts that go off track, or become hijacked somehow. It used to be considered an honour to the thread poster once. I'm not so sure it is considered that now.:-6

I think some of the serious threads or the religious ones need to be kept on track cos their hard enough to follow as it is:wah::wah::wah:

fluff threads and the such, id prefer it was mandatory to go off topic:D

I agree with that... I think it's a little unfair to go off topic in serious threads as there may stuff in there that may be of interest or even of help to someone which can often very easily gets lost amongst the banter making the relevent posts difficult to find for someone with a serious interest in a specific topic....

But yeah... fluffy threads are all good fun....:D

If I read a post, I read the whole post. I don't read every post in a thread. Some folks I don't read at all because they've bored me too many times in the past. I just slide right past them. I'm sure most folks do the same with mine..:wah:
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

Ah! Now that explains why there's always so much fluff covering my screen after I've been on FG.

It's like a group of people having a conversation and a couple of them shoot off at a tangent before coming back to the main discussion. There's a lot if "in" jokes and references to other arguments as well. Meanwhile the main protagonists batter on ignoring the chuntering in the background. It's part of the charm IMO. Would be a shame if the free flow round about was curtailed. It's meant to be fun after all.

Some of the longer threads go way off the original post-given the length obviously some people are having fun and why not? You can, after all, always ignore irrelevant posts if it annoys that much.

A "fluffy" thread ,you'll find, is a bane to Nomads existence. Unless Nomad starts one himself, that is. :wah:

I do sometimes, it depends how interesting it is for me and how long it is. If it's really long, I'll just answer the first post so I'm posting on the topic.
