Riot Going on in LA
I am listening to my Online scanner and there are about 1000 people rioting now at Highland and Sunset Blvd. Not sure why. The police are on horses and riot squad is ot trying to stop them. I am thinking they are rioting over Prop 8.
You can listen off this site. Los Angeles County, California Live Police, Fire, and EMS Scanners

Thanks, I wonder when another judge will get their hopes up again and cause even more upheaval in the long run? I support their Freedom of Speech and all but the people voted legally and have spoken.
Sometimes you win sometimes you loose...
These pics looks more like the excitement I heard on the scanner:
Police arrest two protesters during a demonstration against Proposition 8 that started in front of the Mormon temple in Westwood.
Proposition 8 protests
An angry protester screams at Mormons standing outside their temple in Westwood
Police arrest protesters during a West Hollywood rally against Proposition 8.

Yes, in California. THE US Government has left it up to states wether or not they will allow gay marriage. I think as it stands Massachusetts and Vermont are the only ones that do no prohibit gay marriage. I could be wrong, though.

Yes, i was reading some-thing about this in the British Press.
We have gay marraige's here. It is now law. The law was introduced as a 'civil partnership'. It's designed to protect gay 'husband's and wive's' financially should one die. This means that they have the same rights to property and assets from their 'Husband or wife' as hetrosexual partners.
I believe it was welcomed here and seen some-what as a breakthrough into society accepting gay patnerships.
I don't think Britain can go back on it now it's law.
I don't have a problem with it at all but i do remember some trivial protests at the time the act was passed.

I think the real issue is calling it "marriage".

Your right. I think this is why our government went with the title 'Civil Partnership' rather than 'marraige'. It would be too risky for them to upset the church.

No. Gay marriages never existed legally, so they can't be cancelled legally.
From Reuters:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Several thousand people gathered in Los Angeles on Saturday evening to protest a voter-approved ballot measure that bans same-sex marriage in California.
A diverse crowd, estimated at 5,000, stretched for blocks in the Silver Lake district, east of Hollywood, carrying signs and chanting against Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment that bars the state from recognizing same-sex marriages.
"Equal rights," the protesters chanted, "When do we want it? Now!"
The measure overturned a California Supreme Court ruling in May that refusing homosexuals the right to marry violated the state constitution. Voters in Florida and Arizona joined California on Tuesday in banning same-sex marriages.
Dozens of states have similar laws. Only two U.S. states, Massachusetts and Connecticut, allow same-sex marriage.

Well, when I saw the headline, I worried for my family. So I pulled up all local valley papers, L.A. Times had the only article this morning. (still nothing on the local papers in the area)
Where did you pull up the photo, BTS?

They had demonstrations here in San Francisco as well. I had not heard the demonstrations were particularly violent. I did hear helicopters and sirens during the demonstration though.

Hey check out the second from last pic on my post and read the signs then look at the hate on her face. I think that is getting sugar coated.
What I mean by sugar coating is the hatred they have for the people that voted against them. When so many get that much hate built up, crazy things happen that are out of the norm. And they have chosen the Mormon church to vent against.
