Now I don't really expect you Guys to believe this, as you know that I live in Australia, and that we are now pretty close to summer. BUT - I kid you not - this morning it snowed in Canberra - where I just arrived from Sydney. I'm putting the fire on... BRRRRRRR

It started to storm here yesterday and the whole day we had wet snow and hail showers the wind is arctic. no snow has settled here yet although in Limburg ( south) a thick layer of snow has settled. It is very cold compared to the last few days.

The terrible thing is this storm seems to have caught us off guard, 2 motorists and one cyclist died yesterday caught in strong gusts of wind and icy road conditions, 6 homes lost their roofs blow away by high winds. Various smaller accidents caused by flying debris and icy conditions..

Here in Leeds, I have woken up to jolly sunshine and lots of blue skies amongst various clouds. I don't have central heating and the thermometer in my bedroom is reading 10C. So it's cold. But I haven't been out yet having woken up late. There's no snow though. Not yet at any rate.

I hope it snows tomorrow as I have my daughter. I'm looking forward to rolling her in the snow and making a snowbaby out of her.:wah:

OMG I nearly got a life sized snowman last night.

My daughter left her bike chained to my fence when she went to town last night and when she and her bf collected it at 3 am they found a drunk with no shoes sleeping in my driveway huddled against the garage doors!

the BF managed to wake him and called a cab to take him home after checking his wallet for ID and address. It was so cold and wet with hail and snow last night,

can you imagine what I might have found this morning if it wasn't for her collecting a bike?

That drunk is a very lucky man..

Well its freezing in good old Essex:rolleyes:I was standing out in the cold today from 6am to 3pm and I had lots of clothes on including 2 hats.Well I started off with a white one and as it was so cold I took one of my pink ones I sell and as I told them on the FOC thread it ended up as if I had a marshmellow on me head:o......and I was still cold:-5...Im blowing out Sunday as the weather looks even worse.I was at the coast so that dont help but tell yer Im just defrosting now and Ive been home for hours:(;)

I know how you feel Carolly. I've been freezing my polar caps off all day. I'm not a million miles from you and I've had the heating on all day and night.

I was brought up in a large house with fires in every room that my mum would religiously clean and re-light every winter day. It was a treat to come home to a real fire and toast chestnuts at christmas. being raised in a house like that always made me dis-like double glazing and central heating, so i only put it on if it really is cold.

I do hope it does snow. I'd love to see the kids make a snowman etc. Mr Oscar says that the only people who like deep snow are non-drivers :wah:

As i said in another thread Pam, the worlds going bonkers. Wallaby sightings up in Britain, snow in Australia?? What next?

I wonder how all those 'green' enviromentalists feel right now when they predicted global warming?

But, you know us British, complaining about the weather is a national sport and we'd not be happy if we were not doing it. I was complaining in summer that it was too hot and now I'm Freezing. :wah:

AP, the only reason it's scorching in Australia when the rest of us are chipping icicles of our nuts is because you have a special weather machine. Must have broken down yesterday. Well, it is getting a bit old and worn out now.

I don't expect to see any snow here on the South coast of England and I'm not sure how cold it actually is outside because I haven't been out for 3 days due to a horrible cold, however the wind is howling outside and the rain is sheeting down....I have to go out tomorrow so I hope it cheers up a bit.

Hope all of you affected by the cold can keep warm and that the sun shines soon to cheer you up.........:-6:-6

It was quite fresh in Leeds this morning and my bedroom thermometer was showing 9.2C when I woke up at 7am. I can see the roof over my kitchen from my lounge and it was covered in small, irregular ice pellets about 7-8mm square. The sun has stayed with us most of the day. The wind gave us a sharp thrill around the gills and it felt warmer later in the afternoon. My bedroom thermometer is now showing 9.8C.

Hi Bez, as you live but a few miles from my family who i'll be visiting in two weeks, could you let me know if there is any snow as i leave for my journey down there?:wah: And if there is any accidents on the A27. Last year was a nightmare. I ended up exiting at Porstmouth and doing a massive detour through Petersfield way. :wah:

Over here in the west, it's raining. It's very cold and the heating is on but as flippin usual, it's raining.

Those things are seriously dangerous. I remember being caught in a hailstorm as a little kid with no where to shelter. I can still remember how my face stung so much being pelted with those things. I hate sleet too. Love snow hate sleet.
