It's not that bad here. Make friends with people and they pass things along..
Last year we bought our daughter a few cabbage patch dolls. They were 10.00 & they had a HUGE line of people touching the one they wanted.. We were asked if we wanted boys or girls.. We wanted 2 of each all different. People passed them to us. =D it was nice... of course after we claimed our the pile got knocked to the floor with people pushing and all.. It's fun.. lol:yh_rotfl
I got to listen to people fight over the ONE WII they had in stock. it was 200.00 for everything.. They argued who was in line first..

The is the Christmas season..........the time for peace and goodwill. The madness of Black Friday is a joke from what I see on the news. I don't participate. I have to work on that day. People camping out for hours outside in the cold and pushing and shoving without regard for others through the doors when they are finally opened up. And for what? That "thing" that is on sale. JMO

There are no savage and civilised peoples; there are only different cultures.

I don't usually go out on Black Friday. It seemed like a set up for too much stress and buyers envy and remorse. Today however I did go to an import store and wow what great deals! If I had my ducks in a row I would use the day to do all my shopping--for the entire year! Plus I could have bought jewelry for 50% off with no down payment, no interest for a year and 60 months financing. OMG!!
But unfortunately I'm not that organized so my experience was half as* effort. Some people take the day too seriously as you can see by the Walmart stampede. (That place is icky to begin with so I wouldn't have chosen that store to visit.) I feel lucky to not have been there. Most people though just want to have fun and experience a little Christmas drama.
Here in the US the prices have been so low on everything. I filled my tank up for 18.00 dollars (gas is 1.79 a gallon). I'm not sure there's much of a recession. Some of those banks have laid off workers plus the backwards car makers have had to, by their own fault in my opinion, but everywhere else I'm seeing people enjoying the cheap prices and there's lots of work to had. Could be I'm wrong about what I'm perceiving, it just doesn't seem that the lower and middle classes are having a hard time with the economy?? I mean just walking around and such, being in life.
I think it's construction workers who have been hardest hit. That's what Obama wants to do is start increasing green construction and energy jobs, lots of environmentally sound jobs for US workers. That would be greeeat!

I did QVC today and got a few things. Nope, wouldn't be caught dead out today. QVC has this really cool WalletBE that opens like an accordian and you can store all your cards in easy little pockets plus it has a photo holder that you can download photos in. Really neat.

Tragic and for what a sale..!!
The one time I went out to a mall on "Black Friday" it was a mob mentality every store I went into. I left and swore I would never do it again.

My hubs & I figure with the economy they will be begging us to shop in the next few weeks. I went onto a site called freeshipping.org and they send you emails once a week with codes, etc.

I went out last year and it was exactly as Carla is describing. Complete madness. The line at Target was a mile long. The things I wanted were not those big ticket things.

OK. So two different couples are going to Toys r Us to shop for toys for their kids....and both the dads take a gun. ???? Why do you take a gun to Toys r Us?

It seems positively absurd for the masses to act like savages & kill each other just to save a few $$$$$$$$!!! At least one killed, & several hurt by mad rushing crowds!!!
I wonder if businesses will rethink their insane practice of trying to outdo each other's opening time on Black Friday!!!
(Most likely not!)

No I do not participate in the whole Black Friday madness. Then reading about the poor guy who was trampled to death, then hearing about a cell video of the whole thing posted on YouTube, I'm actually saddened by how sick and greedy our society can be.
