SAD holidays
Just want to say. There are many people who are housebond. or in the hospital or nursing home. Who never see a smiling face. Or hear a kind word. I am sure we all know someone like this. So with the holiday season apon us. This can be a very depressing and lonely time for some. So if everyone who is able to visit someone. Tell them they are not forgotten. Because there may come a day. We could be in their shoes. Let's all pass on a little joy this holiday season:guitarist:-4:-4:-4:):wah::D;)

In addition to these people, there are many more who are hurting emotionally. This may be the first Christmas without a certain person. Perhaps we could begin new traditions with these people on the holiday, so that happy new memories will help fill the void in their hearts.

You are so right SY! Sometimes just smile at someone you pass by, it may be the only smile they get that day.

Thank you for reminding us all to reach out during the holidays. After all that is what the holidays are really about. It is so easy to get too wrapped up in preparing for the holidays....preparing food and get togethers....buying gifts and trees or whatever. Sometimes the most important and rewarding part gets lost in the shuffle.

I have a dear friend in Indiana who is housebond. I often worry about her. With really no family who cares near by. it sadens me.
I will call her more often. send her more up lifting cards. Just to let her know someone is thinking of her:-4:-4. But this should be done all year long. Not just at this time of year.

All year long I collect free samples. I put all the samples in a huge basket and take it over to the local nursing home once a month. It's like Xmas every time I go there since the seniors look forward to picking items from the basket. At Xmas, I wrap the samples and label them male/female. It's fun for them since they now have to pick without knowing what's wrapped inside. I think my mailman is about to kill me for all the samples that come each day but I make sure he gets a nice Xmas tip :wah:
I aslo don't forget the poor animals at the local animal shelter who have no "forever" home and are alone at Xmas time. I collect samples for them as well and leave a check for things the shelter might need to buy these beautiful animals.

I am taking the choir out Christmas caroling to the nursing home, then over to the Music Pastor's house while he is laid up. (with someone else providing the directions, K-9 dog might not be happy to see us at night!:wah:)
Yes, those who are in homes, it is a sad time of year. My husband spent one Christmas in a rest home, and it was very hard on the residents in those places. We should not forget them.

We should not forget them.when i worked in day care we would take the 4 year olds to a local nursing home. For halloween and Christmas. The people there. just love seeing the kids. it made their day a little brighter.
