Xmas Dinner in New Zealand

Clyde Died

Our beloved pet vulture Clyde died yesterday, apparently of natural causes,

unlike Boris before him, who was crushed by a semi while having his road kill breakfast of unknown origin. We loved Clyde, but hadn't had him long enough to really get attached to him. It's for that reason that we have decided to have Clyde for our Xmas dinner instead of the traditional turkey. We found Clyde beneath our Sky TV antennae, unconscious, warm, but apparently dead. We put his remains in a nice plastic Hefty Bag and then into our freezer, where he will remain until Xmas morning. I can think of no finer tribute to our beloved pet than to have our family and friends partake of his remains. I know that Clyde would understand.

Yikes..!! what does a Vulture taste like?? Their eating habits aren't the best can't imagine ol Clyde being to tasty.

I really am sad about Clyde I really am.....but how can you eat him.I ask this because I have as Pets Geese and Ducks and also have had Chickens and I have to say...daft as I am maybe I have never eaten any of them when they have died.Guess we are all different I but just couldn't imagine sitting there eating a once loved pet as you indeed loved Clyde.Im not saying you are wrong for one moment but just saying its nothing I could ever do and yes I know that certain people may be reading this thinking silly cow but thats me I guess:rolleyes:;)

I understand what you are saying, but you have to understand, your ducks and geese would not eat you if you died, but Clyde would have no compunction about eating me or another family member if we died first. It just seems fitting and just that we eat Clyde. Bon appetit

On the contrary, vultures eat protein almost exclusively, dead rabbits, squirrels, deer, cattle, sheep, goats, cats & dogs etc. So their taste is sort of a composite of what they had been eating over the month prior to their demise. Of course, various herbs and spices added to Clydes preparation will enhance flavor. I am partial to garlic with thyme & rosemary. A bit of lemon squeeze at serving tops it off. Black pepper and salt of course.

I'm fine though Christmas will be tight for me this year. I'm off to library shortly to return books and borrow some more. Then get some food in.

I need more heaters for my flat and I'm sure as hell glad I got an electric blanket.
