Bryn Mawr;1081064 wrote: With an attitude like that there is no hope for any of us - especially America.

You cannot fight all of the countries of the world just to prove that you're the toughest - at some point you need to do business with people rather than do the business on people.

If you take your philosophy to its conclusion you have total anarchy which ultimately ends up with the majority of the population as slaves. To prevent that people put safeguards and procedures in place to help them get on with life without constant fighting - they might break down occasionally but generally they allow people to rub along well enough.

The thing to do when the safeguards break down is not to tear them apart and resort to anarchy yourself but to strengthen them to stop them breaking again.

After 9/11 the US had the majority of the world on its side willing to help track down the criminals and bring them to justice. Bin Ladin had, at most, a few hundred men and very little chance of achieving anything outside the border badlands.

Then the US decided to ride roughshod over the world.

To give a government two weeks to hand over a man they did not have and had no power to get is unreasonable. To then invade that country a week later for their failure to hand him over is reprehensible and shows a prior intention to invade come what may. To then fail to capture the target just shows the initial demand as the impossibility it was.

You cannot fight terrorists with tanks and fighter aircraft - they are criminals and part of a larger population, you need a police operation not a military one.

This lack of reason and the amount of collateral damage caused by invading a country to get one man destroyed a lot of the good will and support that had been there after 9/11 - the invasion of Iraq (which had no possible connection to 9/11) just inflamed three quarters of the world and drove recruits to BIN Ladin in their tens of thousands.

For GWB to publicly call the War on Terror a crusade against Islamists then turned the rest of the Muslim world against the west and recruited tens of thousands more fighters to the cause.

To then threaten to invade any or all of half a dozen more Muslim countries (oh, and one Buddhist country for good measure) cemented the perception that this was a religious war.

US policy has created a hydra of massive proportions - for every head you chop off a dozen more spring up in its place. What was a few hundred outlaws with very little support has now become a clash of cultures that shows no sign of ending any time soon.

People here are not attacking America - but we're damn'd pissed off with your governments foreign policy.

I do not expect a peaceful world, there has been war somewhere on Earth every year for as far back as history goes, but neither do I expect the day of reckoning to be triggered by the country we look to to keep the peace - where now the Pax Americana?

Ok. Go ahead and keep your head in the sand if you want. If you are too blind to see the reality of the world you are living in, then you are not part of the solution. We can fight the fight while you sit on the sidelines and whine. We know what to do and we are doing it.

If you have any Scots in you, we'll conscript you if we have another war. Even Al-Quaeda picked on the wrong guys :yh_rotfl

It's funny really, i remember being at home with the tv on when it was announced that there had been a terrorist attack on Glasgow airport. Instead of the usual, OMG type reaction, Mr Oscar and i just looked at each other and said 'tut, idiots!'.

I am falling into a point of reserve, lets make haste to our rally point and check ammo.:)

Id pull ol touchstone in with us, but he seems to be running on his own ahead of our unit, a bit too fer behind enemy lines and rogue to be effective. In short, he's abotu to get his arse shot off, and possibly take us down with him. I don't mind backing up a buddy, but I do mind him getting me killed for foolishness. We can always go back for his body in the end.

It's what many of us do Ryan, that's why it is a forum and not a platform which you seem to think it is. What do you think you are doing when you cheer on a fellow American's post with 'Go team'? I have never seen anyone else do that on this forum and it's childish of you. I'm sure Wildhorses post stands on it's on merits without you whooping 'Go team'. You just make yourself look ridiculous and i respond to that, not every other American on here as you are trying to imply and goad into.

Don't try and insult my intelligence that you are now hurt, dissapointed, insulted blah blah blah. Your thread was deliberately provocative to engage. One of your first posts on here was to 'Worm out Spot'. That tells me that you wrote your post believing (wrongly) that Spot is anti-American and you wrote it to deliberately for him to engage in anti-American report. You failed only because Spot is more of a gentleman and scholar than you could ever aspire to be.

So yes, i will keep on laughing however, i do apologise for putting the 'Charlie's' in after your posts. my mistake, they should have been these:

:yh_chickn:yh_cowboy:yh_cowboy:yh_cowboy

FOR JESTER AND ALL AMERICAN

This is the post i put on some pages back because i believed that Touchstone was 'flaming' and wrote his opening post to deliberately incite anti-American feeling.

FOR TOUCHSTONE

AS YOU CAN SEE BY JESTER'S AND MY LAST POSTS, YOU HAVE WHAT US BRITISH CALL 'BEEN RUMBLED' MY SON.

You tried taking us all for idiots an deliberately getting members on here at each other's throats.

As you are fairly new here, what you didn't know, is that the members on here go back far longer than you imagine.

We have had aour fallouts before and we never take anything as malice, only good hearted political debate.

That is, until, what us British call a 'TOSSER' comes into the arena.

FOR JESTER

Your apology was never needed my little gun slinger, we go back too far for that.

(Did you have that chat with your son about me). However, apology accepted graciously.

Just one further thought Jester, The next time there's a war, could you lot turn up on time please??? :yh_rotfl
