Cyber Space has Eaten my Cash

Post by Oscar Namechange »

I am a fairly intelligent person  I understand the Labour Party Manifesto and can read and write, however, can any-one actually tell me where my money has gone?? As i don't understand it, my bank is baffled and my Telephone company is baffled also.

For an eternity, my monthly payent to British Telecom for my landline phone and Broadband was £69 a month.

This is paid by direct debit through my bank each month.

Some months back, we recieved a whopping grat pnone bill that we were expecting.

B.T. phoned us and said we had two options. We could either have our monthly payments increased to £129 or make a one off payment of £204.

Not wanting to be bothered with changing direct debits, I made a transfer from my bank to B.T. for the £204 on line.

When i checked my account this week, i saw B.T. had taken not £69 but £129.

I phoned to ask them what they were up to. After being passed around Delhi in India for an hour, i finally got to speak to a British person some-where in the Uk.

They checked it out and agreed they had recieved my payment of £204 on line.

They then told me i had cancelled it. After an exchange of 'Are you havin a laugh mate'? type conversation, they agreed that we would have no reason to cancell the payment but more importantly, if we cancelled it, why was the £204 not in my bank account.?

Next conversation was with my bank who agreed that a payment for the £204 had been transfered from my account on that date and was not still in my account.

The question is now.......... B.T. does not have this £204 and it is not in my bank account.

So who the bloody hell has got my money???????:confused:

After a few conversations with them, B.T. admit that i have made this payment, they had it, and it's dissapeared. When i asked, 'youmust have lost it then', they said, 'No, you cancelled it'.

My bank has been in touch with them and verified that they transfered the payment and it has never been re-credited to my account, which is what would have happened, if i had indeed cancelled the transfer.

Also, there is nothing on my bank account to show a cancellation of payment.

B.T. very begrudgingly credited my B.T. account back with £204 and re-set my payments to £69 a month but can not explain themselves where this money went.

It left me a little worried and so i spent time re-setting all my pass-words for my accounts which was a nuisence.

That BT admit to receiving the payment (which your bank could have proven to be the case) makes the money their responsibility. It places the onus on them to show the next movement of the money, a matter that they must take up with their bank.

Whilst re-setting your passwords is a worthwhile exercise in itself, the money has gone from their account and not yours.
