Overweight?

Post by Kindle »

Americans in particular are vastly overweight. People today meet people for meals, for drinks, for dessert, just to talk, just to get away and it all revolves around food and drink.

At meetings even, 'someone' is designated to bring the snacks...........

We eat in our cars and take in our coffer/water to our appointments. We are constantly munching and crunching on something and washing it down with high caloric specialty drinks.

How did this all come about? Was it the sucessful lifestyle? The hurried lifestyle? The boring lifestyle?

Why are we constantly in a feeding mode?

Comfort food. That is what food is on occasion like that, a little happiness in caloric form. But it doesn't mean that, it is something to add to special event.

I can't speak for the rest of you but most of my life was spent doing hard physical work. I burnt it off. It's only been since I was forced to retire that I gained lots of weight. Can't do the exercising but still love food.

You know what women catch my eye? It ain't the skinny minnies.:D

It's not just America--------it's caused by a diet high in carbs & sugars and sedentary life style.

Everyone has their own choice to eat these high-fat foods or not.

- some parents, raise their kids on these high-fat foods, some kids now are so overweight......that's just evil to do to a child.

All restaurants serve alternatives.

Even the coffee shops with their high intake of fat, sugars, chocolate sprinkles etc. for their coffee's.

-they have regular coffee with low-fat sweeteners and low-fat milk.

There is no excuse.

We had some stats of this here. If i remember correctly, Florida was the biggest over-weight part of the world followed by Scotland.

We have a serious problem with it here and to show how bad it really is, our government has suggested that mums get a payment for............. wait for it!!!!........................................................................................................................................Walking their kids to school.

It's meant to be an incentive to get over-weight kids to slim down for health reasons.

This was interesting.

Its not the food, its the portions. And also we are all so busy that we eat too fast. By the time the brain signals the stomach that it is full you have already overeaten. You can reduce your intake by putting less on your plate, and eating slowly. Snacks are also a problem. But there are healthy snacks too. Fruit and berries instead of sweets. Popcorn instead of potato chips. Dont eat too many carbs at night or you wont burn them off. I lost 25 pounds last year going by this method and I never feel hungry.

Eating slow works, I guess. My aunt, mom's sister, used to be the slowest eater. Whenever she came to our place for a feed, dad would tell mom to start feeding her as soon as she got there. Otherwise, she would still be on her salad when the rest of us was waiting for desert. No kidding, she would cut kidney beans in two. Whenever she hit 100 lbs. she would crash diet down to about 75 lbs. She looked like hell.
