It is quite ridiculous to block newer members and those with lower incomes from even editing their own profiles!! Not even send PM's?? Can't help but wonder what you all are thinking with these restrictions.

Quit complaining! I understand the lower incomes argument, but I see that you have enough money for a computer and an Internet account. Do you own a car? Do you eat at McDonald's, order pizza, or ever go out to the movies? It's priorities. Choose your forum or your cheese pizza.

The editing of profiles and sending PM's for regular registered members should be working now. ForumGarden reserves the right, however, to block these functions again if we encounter the same issues we had in the past.

curiously enough, i *don't* understand the lower incomes argument. What does it have to do with anything? Are there special programs out there for lower income individuals who want to drive Ferraris? How about lower income programs for people who want to vacation on the riviera?
i mean, if what we were providing here was a basic staple of existence - you know, food, water, clothing - and if we were run by the government, or had government funding, then i could understand the argument. we'd have an obligation to provide access to 'lower income individuals'.
all i see is a red herring. boo-hoo - poor people can't log in to forumgarden to chat. oh - wait....they CAN! they just can't do things like have custom avatars. doodads like that. well, gee, again - boo hoo. if you can afford to be reading this conversation, with your computer and internet connection, then you clearly have some disposable income.
next up, the argument that there are people who don't have computers and internet connections - they go to the library to log in. well - boo hoo yet again. i see they have some means of *getting to* the library. i see they apparently have the free time to go to the library and indulge in utterly meaningless activities, like reading and posting on FG. why aren't they reading books? why aren't they out looking for a job?
next up, the argument that there are some poor poor individuals who receive forumgarden through the fillings in their teeth. and these poor, homeless souls are stuck - damned if you will - to being limited only to being able to read and post to forumgarden, but NO CUSTOM AVATARS! NO PM's! o the humanity!!
i guess the forumgarden operators are doomed to a fiery afterlife for their churlishness and meanspiritedness towards the downtrodden.
you bring the buns, i'll bring the burgers.

I just tried it and can't do it. I don't care about not having a sig or a avatar (much), but I don't like that I can't change my settings in case I want to change my display/password/whatever.

Hi Dizz,
Agreed. I just tested these functions using my regular account - and all works well. Still having this problem? (Be sure you are not looking at cached pages.)

What's with the hate? No PH, not everyone can afford to send money. No, I do not have a computer OR an internet account. I'm at work when I'm online. I just wanted to be able to use some formerly available perks that vanished without explanation. What's the deal with the nasty attitudes here lately?? Is it the water? The President? Or just good old American aggression toward those that had questions about FG's slashed perk list?

Slashing the perk list just took some by surprise! FINE if you hate those that miss the goodies that were here. Why the condescending lecture?? Was my sentence that painful?? Smoke a joint A, you need it.

And who the Hell are you?? I asked a simple question, mirrored by others that did not get their heads bitten off. If I had left out the lower incomes remark would you still react like a goddamn troll? Your post count is not high enough to talk down to me PH. Let's show some respect.

Suite, I just sent a pm. Didja get it?
New Subscribers Can't Edit Their Profiles
We figured it out... we have to go into my settings and then hit the send pm through there.... we can't do it from the links on the board in the member profile thing.
Strange.
Edit: and we aren't allowed into the member list either.
