Why is it I can only think of the low parts?:( It seems that has been my whole year...I can't wait for 2009, it's got to get better, or at least it can't get any worse. Oops! There goes another "woe is me" shelbell post. :-5

My high would have to be getting some work at a cute little school located in a department store. I've always wanted to work inside a department store and so this is like a dream come true.

My lows would have to the deaths of my pet dog Jum_Jim ( he was my loyal companion for over 10 years ) and my best friend, Larry ( we were very close friends for over 5 years).

Actually, this year has been more full of lows for me than highs so I'm hoping that next year will be better.

Mixed bag really

Lows - Mum finding out she had a huge tumour in her heart and having to undergo emergency open heart surgery in a hospital two hours away from home.

Seeing through someone for what they are, realising that some people just can't help lying to you, even when they insist they are your close friend.

Highs - Passing my college course and getting a place at university.

Learning that in lifes big emergencies you discover who your friends are, the ones that take on your children at a drop of a hat for over a week so you can be with your Mum.

Mum making a full recovery and is once again running round with her busy social life. :-6

For me, it's been one of the most horrible years ever!

Having said that, I'm still here, I have my health (such as it is) and I can still manage to put one foot infront of the other.

There are other people here who have been through much worse than I this year.

My heart goes out to you all :-4:-4

Here's to a happy, healthy and peaceful 2009 for all my lovely FG friends:-4:-4
Very nearly perfect ... :D

I find that I don't want to think much about the lows. There have been several financial lows throughout the year. I expect more next year.

The most crushing low was emotional and it effected me deeply.

The highs have been more important to me.

Visiting my daughter at her grandmother's. She wandered out of the lounge down the hallway, so I shouted "Bye, Arabella". She'd disappeared by then but she suddenly reappeared with a big grin on her face and replied "Bye, Diddy". Ok, she mispronounced my name, but that's not the point. It was the first time she'd said my name quite clearly.

Getting my car back on the road was good. No more lugging my tools to and from contracts on buses and trains. You cannot believe how ignorant commuters are. If they thought their shins were harder than my toolboxes, they soon found out otherwise.

Being able to take my daughter out, even if only for the one day each week. I feel now that I really am getting to know her.

Finally being able to get back online. Virtually all my banking has been done online for several years now. I had to use the public library computers which was very dodgy and I could only access them at the weekends. The maximum time on a PC was two hours and it's surprising how quickly that time goes when you're trying to do research or whatever. Plus, getting back online meant I could chat with my FG friends again. I'd really missed being able to do that. I'd been offline for 19 months.

I'm expecting 2009 to be difficult financially. As it's a worldwide economic downturn, even my work is affected. This, of course, affects my plans including making my home comfortable and being able to have my daughter for the whole weekend amongst many other things.

The low was being diagnosed with a rare blood cancer----Non Hodgkins Lympoma B Cell (Waldenstrom's Disease)

The high was being successfully treated for it and put into remission and the birth of my first great grand daughter.

They are really aren't they! Funny how the lows always spring to mind first though.

I have Mum here for christmas dinner this year, if the tumour hadn't been discovered when it was she may well not have made it to this christmas.

I can't wait for this year to end! Both of my mothers sisters died this year, and not too long ago my dad died.

What got me through all this was being around my granddaughter, for the first year of her life. This sweet baby, who finds joy in the most simplest of things, really kept me from going over the edge...Love that kid! :-4:-4:-4
