Any plans for New Year's?

Post by laneybug »

What are your plans for New Year's??

I'm a huge New Year person. I love the feeling of a fresh year. Not that my previous year was bad. I did get married and all! And, that's just been lovely.

Any resolutions? Any new adventures being planned? :D

For me, I'm gathering a list of all the birthdays and anniversaries I can get my hands on of extended family, co-workers, etc. I love sending out cards of all sorts, and I want to do that much more this year. I can be quite the anti-social family member just because I get so busy and wrapped up in projects and the like. This year, I really want to focus on being more involved with family affairs.

I have some other things as well, such as using my new yoga ball! Hopefully I'll learn not to keep rolling off! :p

So, let's hear your plans!!

We always order chinese food in, rent some movies and watch the celebrations from all over the world.

to expensive to go out and to many drunks out!

New Year's Day-watch the Rose Parade, one of my colleges always has a float in it that is a contender.

Watch the bowl game-Penn State vs USC. My husband will be relegated to one side of the room (a Penn State grad) and we all will sit on the USC side. Ha-ha, I will see my old friends on the tube in the Parade by some of the college bands as music coaches, they'll be in the bowl, and the chips and dips will be flying........

I agree. I went out last year because my sister and her husband were hosting a party. Still.... it's too cold here and yes, all the drunks.

I love watching the ball drop. I stay up for it every year.

Chinese food and movies sounds great!

That's really neat, chonsigirl.

And a little rivalry is a lot of fun! :D

My husband will be deejaying where I work and he's commander. We'll have pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, etc. It's always a good time. Hubby doesn't drink so I always have a designated driver. We live real close to the club so we don't have to worry too much about the other drivers on the road.

I am going small this year and I'm just going to try and get birthday cards out to family members this year. I say that every year, but this year, I'll really try,

As for New Years Eve, hubby works and I have my two babies home with me. I also have my 15 year old niece visiting. I like the Chinese food and movie idea someone else mentioned. She may have other plans that include a male friend here (She lives 8 hours away and met him 2 summers ago) but even if she does, my plans won't change.
I probably posted that in an ambien trance-soryy

New Year's Eve is heaps of fun here. All the streets round Sydney Harbour are shut down from midday and after 4pm no one can even walk in, including residents. Millions of people mill around outside and grab any spot on the foreshore and the party starts.. I usually have a few people in. They have to come early and sleep over - so it's all pretty relaxed and low key. We yack, cook, eat, watch the action in the street, and then have a front seat for the big fireworks at midnight.

New Years Eve here in my small town at midnight is fireworks galore! We just have a nice evening together & watch movies (and yes, popcorn). Will probs do a seafood takeout from a place around the corner. Would really love some mussels in red sauce, etc. Quin has just informed me that he would like a fruit dish (pineapples, cantaloupe & honeydews, yummio - maybe for brekkie.)

We always stay home. We'll watch a movie or two and then watch the ball drop...on tv of course. We hate going out cuz of all the drunks on the road...just isn't worth it. We usually get some sausage and cheese for crackers and may even spring for a bottle of sparkling grape juice since neither of us drinks.

I don't like going out on New Year's Eve anymore. People are just too crazy on this night...just like St. Patrick's Day.....

This year I've invited some friends over, and I'm going to cook a brunch in the early afternoon.

:yh_shamrk:yh_shamrkI'm making a full Irish breakfast.....:yh_shamrk:yh_shamrk ...well, almost...no blood pudding

.....fried eggs, rashers, bangers, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, new potatoes, scones and homemade Irish soda bread.

I'm setting a table near my fireplace...hope it's cold...and putting out all of my Old Country Rose and Waterford. We'll drink good chardonnay champagne, Smithwicks and Port.

Here's the type of Waterford and Old Country Rose that I'll be putting on my table with Ducky's gift (the beautiful package on the last pic)...We'll lift one for you Ducky:p

Sorry...light is bad due to reconstruction work in my home...

At midnight I'll watch the fireworks on the beach with my fishermen friends:p
