hi everyone

i'm new here too and also from england. i wouldn't say i was the sharpest tool in the box and i'm not much for arguing with people about things that do not really matter too much, but i do love a jolly good debate on occasion.

so thanks for having me aboard.

hi peter

yes indeed, mrs lake and i share a passion that i'm sure you are all to well aware of. 30 years and 400 gigs makes her an archive in her own right, i really have got to hand it to you, these strangler obsessives can forget that not everyone is interested in this amazing band. i look forward to hearing more tales about all things stranglers and will try not to get too boring about it. i must admit that i am a bit of an anorak about this band and never miss an opportunity to learn more,,,,, great stuff

thanks for the heads up there touchstone, facts and statistics are interesting things (to those that are interested in them i suppose) but what was it that some wise person once said

"lies,,,,damn lies,,, and statistics" :) not sure they were entirely right about that,,,,but then,,,,i suppose it's always open for debate;)

That's brilliant. She can chat to you instead of bending my ears with them. I am a fan of Paul Roberts but not the early Stranglers as much. I also rate John Ellis very highly. She plays the dvd Friday the 13th', live at the Royal Albert Hall a lot. The best on there is 'Sinister', a brilliant track.

I get some peace every now and then when she goes off with her brother to see them. She will be delighted to have a fellow anorak. She had quite a track record with the Stranglers long before i met her. I remeber taking my wedding vows and i think i had to say 'I take thee 'Meninblack' to be part of my life forever'.

Glad your going to stick around on FG.

hahahah ,,,,brilliant,,,,'I take thee 'Meninblack' to be part of my life forever',,,should be mandatory (or at least written in tipex on the souls of the grooms shoes as he kneels to cement his fate at the alter whilst the choir belt out sinister) i thought paul roberts did a good job in the stranglers but i'm definitely a mk 1 merchant although i like pretty much everything they have ever done in varying degrees (see,,,,,now that's a real anorak for you) friday the 13th was a triumph for them, thats for sure, i love the royal albert hall anyway.

happy strangling

It's worse than that. I have strict instructions for her funeral should the worst happen. No hynms but i don't think the vicar will take kindly to 'Down in the Sewers' and 'Bitching' being played.

Paul Roberts has his own band now called 'Soulsec', i think there's a web site for it. John Ellis also has one called 'Map of Limbo'.

Some days i get 'The Verve' played and then i have no choice but to leave the house.

Ludwig

Don't get her brother on here about The Stranglers, he's even worse.

I have only been to Plymouth once but I liked the swimming pools in the rocks and of course I went to see the war memorial because my dad wanted to see it.

Hi Ludwig........... It was me

It was me that got Ludwig on here ha ha ha

He will have to side with me on everything now because he worships The Stranglers. It should be made law anyway to worship the Stranglers and Gordon Brown.

Glad to see you stayed Ludwig. I just got up for an hour to have a nose on here and then back to bed with my flu.

I'll be back on the Stranglers thread with part two very shortly.

Everyone on here is really great except one :sneaky::sneaky:

HI FELLOW STRANGLER'S NUT

I hope to have time to answer your questions tonight on 'Calling all Strangler's fan's' thread.

410 gigs is not actually that great, I've met the same fans at European gigs and in Britain who have notched up 600 odd.

When you think that The Stranglers must hold the record for the most toured band in Britain, they have toured nearly every year since the 70's to present day.

34 years at an average of 30 dates a year or more sums up around 1,000 gigs without European dates and dates in Australia and canada etc.

Great to see even now J.J. still plays bass on one leg :-4:-4:-4 God i love that man :-4

I'm really glad you stuck around. Log on to my thread 'Do you have a hero/@ as i put J.J.. You can add 'Hugh' and a clip for me.

Catch you later and 'I'll see you in the sewers Darling and don't be late'

They don't understand on here Ludwig. What it is to see sheer genious infront of you :wah:

There is another thread about phrophets and i addes that i worship the phrophets Burnel and Cornwell. Pointed out that 'The Raven' and tracks such as 'Shah Shah a Go Go', 'Genetics' and 'Meninblack' were phrpfetic for their time.

No-one understands, it's just you and me although 'Dubs' and 'Jimbo' are fans on here.
