Changes are good Jimbo...:-6

I need to lighten up and learn how to deal with the curve balls that life throws me, without panicking...

I plan to .....try to stop worrying soooooooooooooooo much.....You don't have to worry when I'm around...I'll worry for you...;)

I plan to care more for myself and then everything will fall into place.

I'd like to stop smoking, but I know I won't so I'm happy to just keep doing what I'm doing.

Funnily enough I achieved my personal goals of 2008 (for once) I learned how to swim, remained off the cigarettes, and got back into shape, thats not bad for one year.

This year I would like to learn to ride a horse, sightread music, and finally play piano properly. If I can do even one of those, I will be fairly happy.

Good luck with your quests Jimbino, I would advise regularity and quantity as the key to successfully improving your fitness and losing weight. Do 20 minutes of something every day, 6-7 days a week, its far better than killing yourself for 2 solid hours twice a week, thats impossible to maintain.

So 20 mins of swimming in the morning, or a little run, or weights, or a bicycle. If you want to do more, work it up from there, it should come naturally once your fitness improves. Then walk as much as possible as well and that kinda thing, keep yourself going physically.

For food, I would say the easiest thing is cut down on the obvious crap like cakes, crisps, and biscuits and anything ready-made out of packets. Eat fresh food and cook it yourself, eat less carbohydrates, a bit less meat, and eat a lot more vegetables and fruit. All just the common sense stuff, but make it a habit.

Try and eat something with a lot of fibre in it, like a good museli or something in the morning it will help your body digest your food better, and you will feel better in general.

Keep the portions small, and most importantly, eat when your hungry, but just enough to satisfy your imeadiate hunger, so don't eat huge meals, eat several smaller ones. Eat early as well, and exercise as early as possible, its better for your day and your metabolism.

You'll be amazed after only a few weeks.

I'm also going to learn to play my newest favorite card game better.

POKER!

I've been playing with family and I just love it! I'm even watching Texas Hold 'Em on TV now.

Im going to toughen up.I cant let things get to me here like they have this year.I cant let peoples cruel words upset me.I wont bother with people that obviously dont give a stuff about me.I will shut my eyes when I know theres those who may be nice to "my face" but stab me in the back every chance they get.I wont believe all I hear.I wont bend over backwards to help people who are just using me for whatever reason.I wont let anybody talk down to me as nobody has the right to and is not that important enough to.I will be friends with those that want to be friends with me and not ones with untrue words.I will give my all to those that give me theres.....I will respect those that respect back.......I will not betray those that dont betray me......I will give back what I recieve....good or bad......and most important of all.....I will only love those that I know love me back and dont hurt me.

Im to old now to change but I can listen to my heart and follow what its telling me and the things above its shouting at me and its about time I listened.

You be as you always are-you are a kind person, and stay true to yourself and those you love. Never let anyone talk down to you, oh my, you are a gem as is every person. Know your worth, it is unlimited within your heart.

Hmmm. Next year. What I have to do now is to resolve my financial issues. I want to retrain for a new career as my present line of work is boring and does nothing for my bank balance any more. But I have to resolve my financial issues before I can afford to pay for the training and these are in a Catch 22 situation right now.

I find it difficult to understand why things are as they are now. While I was in Bedford, my outgoings where far higher than they are now yet I always had funds to spare. The difference in income in West Yorkshire, being only £80/week lower, does not account for the discrepancy here.

There are other things I want to achieve. All are dependent on being able to resolve my financial issues.

That's not really true tho - tips I have, it's the discipline to accomplish them is what I'm truly lacking. So my goal is to be more disciplined and to stop procrastinating.

The trick it to directly replaced bad habits for new good habits, once your habituated to doing the right thing, it comes naturally and you don't need to use your will power so much, that makes it a lot easier. That's the way I try and improve my self-discipline.

I don't make new year resolutions.

I just hope 2009 is not a rough year for everyone. I just hope we all can still enjoy our lives and our loved ones.

All the good things that we attribute to the Christmas spirit remain with us all year long. :)

The real trick is to entirely change your mindset over what you eat and your other habits about exercise. It is all a mind game. Set goals and look to the long term. Say to lose 25 pounds by next July. Focus on that and convince yourself that is a worthy and doable goal, if you can do that everything will follow. You change your view of life so that you feel as if you are failing if you do things that you know are not good. So, if you are out for dinner get joy by telling the waiter not to bring rolls or bread, make your self proud by turning down potatoes and instead take two vegetables. Make your self feel guilty when you don't follow your exercise regime, feel like a winner when you do succeed in keeping to your workout.
