I think it is bad enough when a household is held to ransom, let alone a nation. This is what happens, though, when money is involved. I can't say I know the answer to this without fundamental changes to the economy. Perhaps a rationed supply of gas could be provided until a deal had been thrashed out.

The problem here is solely down to Thatcher who shut our mines, crippled our economy and assets so we became reliant on buying cheap gas from the likes of Russia.

At least here, we have North sea gas and at a push this could sustain us should Russia do the same with Britain. The Ukraine does not have the same luxery. It is the folly of a Conservative government that British have to blame for our gas prices not the present government.
