Glad to here you have retired also! Isn't it grand? Why kill yourself when you don't have to?
-You can get away from the newspaper, I love watching the news, its quick and painless!;)
One does have a lot to do on a ranch, however when boredom strikes, you always have me!
I of course have no idea what Obama did as I don't care to get caught up in US politics much, we have our own problems right at home.:-5
welcome to retirement, its' a blast!

Jester;1098441 wrote: Well I did it...
I have been working for money since I was 9 years old. As of today 1JAN09 It will be my goal to break even or loose money (owe zero taxes) for the remaining years of my life.
I have no idea how I'm gonna do this but I will figure this out as I go.
For now- I have severed all business ties, all but dissolved two full time businesses, ended all government contracts, and remain a total and free citizen under the constituion of the United States Of America.
I'm going to try to make ends meet on my ranch, doing work that will cover my expenses of living by barter, and not use my retirement money.
I still have passive income coming in, so I have arranged money to be delivered to non profit orgs such as churches, church ministries, missionary societies.
Anybody who's read any of my threads pretty much know what brought this on, the election of Barack Obama to the presidency of the US. I do not believe he is eligiable to be POTUS and have decided not to serve the US government in any capacity during his presidency. In short I won't contribute to the illegal and unconstitutional action which brought him into the whitehouse. I wont commit an illegal act to remove him either, so I am retiring from all government work, and doing my best not to contribute taxes to the cause of a socialist america.
I have no choice but to ride this out...
As the days past towards this day I kind of got used to the idea of having no obligations... then I have realized that I have plenty to do on the ranch and I have plenty of other things I can do for folks I know in my church and I can teach in the school, and do some things that I like to do. I'm greatfeul to God that he has seen fit to equip and bless me thus far in life so that I can be in this position.
If ya see me on here less- it means I went fishin. If ya see me on here more- it means I'm bored. I'm not gonna read the NEWS. I'm not gonna follow politics, war, or the impending doom my mind predicts. I'm just gonna wake up each monring, embrace the daylight in whatever capacity it sees fit to display itself, breath, rest, and wait to see what the day brings, then take the next day the way I took the previous day.
I don't know if I can do it to be honest, I've never been one to let grass grow under my feet- I feel like a cowboy in 1880 after barbed wire fenced in my open range... but I'll enjoy as much of the open space thats left and there seems to be plenty of it left.
Good for you Jester. So how old are you eh???? :wah:
I too reached a milestone in my life last year. I won't bore you with it but i decided that i was going to quit complaining about the news in this country and do some-thing about it even if it's jsut a small contribution. Most of our politicians don't come to power until their latter years so for me, it's not too late. I am going to enrol in college in politics and get stuck in. I have has some experience of sitting on council but that was sooooo boring and futile.
Whatever the rights or wrongs of your foriegn policy, you are a man who has fought for your country and for that i do truely admire your patriotism and guts. You will leave behind in this world a fine son to carry on with your beliefs.
I hope life is good for you but i've only just started!!!!!!!

Nice New Years resolution Jester and happy retirement to you.
And when you find a way around not paying property taxes on your ranch, share it with the rest of us, will you? Oh, and death tax too. The government wants every dime they can get from ya.

Best of luck, Jester. That'd be some achievement. Don't forget to keep a journal of some sort to mark your efforts.:-6

Have you thought of writing Jester? Magazines, Journals that kind of thing?
I got a story printed in a magazine and it pays really well. I gave my fee to The British Legion but you can earn a serious living from it i would imagine.
