The most sickening case of abuse to a dog i have ever seen
We have had many threads on animal cruelty on FG but even in all the years i have fought for animal rights, I have never seen anything as bad as this.
The picture in this link will not fail to sicken and disgust you even if you are not an animal lover.
When i scrolled down this page tonight and saw the first picture of 'Hobo' the German Shepherd, i burst into tears.
I want you all to look at his picture and see what kind of world we live in. It will make you cry like me but be brave. When you've had a good look, scroll down further to see the result of the dedication of the PDSA in saving his life.
Britain is a country that has an animal rights programme to be proud of, yet why do we allow this to continue?
Please look at him.... If you look at him, you may be just another that will say 'enough is enough' and public outcry may bring about changes for animals like 'Hobo' as Britain did for 'Baby P'.

The PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) is one of the largest animal charitie's in Britain. We have a PDSA hospital very near us.
I am astonsished that they perservered with 'Hobo'. If an animal looked like that to me, I'd be inclined to put him out of his misery. I would worry his organs would be shutting down with that amount of weight loss.
Great photo underneath of him looking so great now.
I have never even seen a fox with mange and starved as bad as him.
The people who do this type of thing trash all the hard work over the years that people have fought for animal rights.
I want to see the person tracked down and prosecuted with a prison sentence.

I think the PDSA wants him more, but this was a long time ago, they won't find him now.

If the RSPCA are involved they are more like the animal police here and have incredible powers to insist on a police investigation and prosecution. I hope they do it. :-1

- but he was dropped off there a very long time go by someone.
Police investigation? ............... Now? ............... Why wasn't that done then?
Our's do it immediately, police are contacted with each one immediately.
That person/persons is long gone now, this was ages ago.
You have no idea what comes through the doors here everyday, people are smart, they drop the animals off in the middle
of the night, so they won't be seen.
Perhaps you should write GB about this one.
But by the time he even reads it, if he does, that also will be way to late.

Yes i agree. I'm hoping maybe there is an on-going investigation by RSPCA or police that the press can't report incase they are close on the person.

if there was an ongoing search, they would have found him by now.
its just so sad, thank god he had a fresh start, be thankful he got a second chance....most don't, in that condition most would have euthanized him just to get him out of such severe pain.....and I don't blame them.
-even now, that dog is suffering.
that traumatized that dog for life.
sometimes its best just to let go rather than have them suffer.
back to try and get some sleep, its 4am here.

I don't think I've ever seen a dog that emanciated that lived. I love the picture of him completely back to health.:-6
If you read to the very bottom of the page, the owner pleaded guilty to doing this to the poor baby, and is awaiting sentencing. I hope they lock them up for a very long time.

This is from the article your link points to Oscar.
"The couple have even funded a prosecution of Hobo's former owner who has pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a dog.
Joy Battison, of Orchard Hill, Little Billing, Northants, is due to be sentenced in January at Northampton Magistrates Court."
Hobo was happy to eat and that was what gave the vet people hope for him. But no one knows how come he was taken to the PDSA. That remains a mystery but thankfully it saved his life.
I love german shepherds. They are amazing dogs. They do not deserve the least mistreatment. They are so well suited for families and kids.

FANTASTIC NEWS THAT HOBO'S FORMER OWNER IS TO BE SENTENCED AFTER PROSECUTION.
The 'Sun' have reported on Hobo today so it's higly likely they will do a follow up story when the former owner is sentenced. I will keep watch for news and post it here for our American and Canadian friends.
Let this be a warning to any other sicko who thinks of doing this. I hope you manage to get to prison safely before the Animal Rights brigade get to you. It'll be a lot less painfull.

The court or the RSPCA have the power to slap a life long ban on her from ever owning another dog or face further prosecution.
Let's hope we get a tough judge!!!

Rather than post a new Thread or bring up the old one, i thought i'd included the news here as we are discussing animal cruelty.
It has been reported in the Sun newspaper today that Prince Edward IS to face an RSPCA probe after he was photographed raising his stick to his dogs.

Agreed that the damage has been done but at least a life ban would stop her getting another dog and doing the same again.
I think it's high time we brought back dog license's. Make them high, say £100 so people put thought into getting a dog but make pensioners exempt.

dogs and cats here are supposed to have licenses, but most don't bother as it is a yearly expense!:-5:-5

There is a movement to bring in a kind of dog owners licence in the UK it would work a bit like a driving licence you would have to take a test to prove you were fit to own the dog before being allowed to own one.
This may help weed out some bad or 'spur of the moment purchase' owners but much of this abuse is systematic and sadistic, its about the person having power over another living creature. They are not put off by rules, laws, licences or how much the dog costs. They just want to be lord and master.
I have never had a dog that didn't come from a bad situation I have never known any other kind of dog my father used to bring home all kinds of waifs and strays and I have just continued.
In spite of the abuse these dogs have suffered starvation, beatings near drownings, being shot with an air gun, broken ribs ect ect I have never been bitten or threatened by any of these dogs they have all responded with love and affection to the care we give them.
The laws that deal with these people are not strong enough as I said with the prince Edward thing these people are bullies. If they had done this to a child there would be instant punishment but 'just a dog' a ban on ownership Big deal. Broadmoor is the place for them along with the rest of the sicko's

The most sickening case of abuse to a dog i have ever seen
It is only in the past 12 years that my dogs have have come from tiny pups, Although Rosie our new pup is rescue.
I have had rescue dogs all my life and most have had their fears and quirks due to the way they were treated prior. The wonderfull thing about any dog is that they learn to trust a kind person again very very quickly an it's this that makes taking a rescue so rewarding.
As Victoria said quite rightly, if dog licences were re-introduced here and they were set high, it would eliminate alot of the 'impulse' buying of dogs.
To give you an example, my own puppy 'Posie' was on her third home by 12 weeks old. When she was spotted in a cage, the third owner told us we could take her there and then because she was a pain in the arsse. One of their daughters had got Rosie as a 6 week old pup and then couldn't cope because she poo-ed everywhere and she had young children. She was passed to another daughter and the same thing happened. Then the parents took her and when they didn't like it because she ran around the house so much, they stuck her in a cage. Now, if all three of those people had to pay £100 to £250 licence fee, they would have tried harder with her or given her to some-one who really wanted her.
By the by, it took me just three days to have going to the toilet on paper and a week before she was asking to go outside.
I shall be seeing the local Junior Tory MP next week and it'll be interesting to hear his views on it.

Yes, she is a woman Kathy. It makes it worse in my book. Woman are supposed to have maternal instincts more than men and protect the vulnerable.
I went outside as usual late last night with a tray of food for the foxes. They were there waiting as usual and normally, it is such a routine that i don't even think of what i'm giving them. Mr O has just gone off to the supermarket and i've just tole him not to forget the chicken for the foxxes. When i went out there last night, i looked at this pile of food and just thought of that poor starved dog. As i said earlier, i have never even seen a fox in a condition like that and boy, i've seen some rought one's.

THE WOMAN WAS SHOPPED TO POLICE BY HER SONS GIRLFRIEND!!!
I have just been googling 'Hobo' the dog' to see if i could find out where he's living to make a donation and accidently found a forum with a thread on him.
Two posters say they live on her estate and know where she lives. One says that the woman is sheer evil..evil..evil. The other one says that it is not a run down council estate but a wealthy private estate which makes it all the worse. That poster said the woman had been shopped by the son's girlfriend. GOOD ON HER!!!!
that is just sickening!:-5:-5:-5
THE WOMAN WAS SHOPPED TO POLICE BY HER SONS GIRLFRIEND!!!

To 'shop' some-one is to tell the police who they are and where they live

It will make you cry like me but be brave. When you've had a good look, scroll down further to see the result of the dedication of the PDSA in saving his life. Britain is a country that has an animal rights programme to be proud of, yet why do we allow this to continue? Please look at him.... If you look at him, you may be just another that will say 'enough is enough' and public outcry may bring about changes for animals like 'Hobo' as Britain did for 'Baby P'.Here's to Hobo! Neglected German Shepherd is nursed back to life from brink of death | Mail OnlineOMG!!!!! Yes I CRIED!!! But it just makes me Furious. That people can get away with this!!!!!:-5:-5:-5 We have a SERIOUS Parvo problem where i live. SOOOO many dogs who are sick. dropped off here to DIE!!:-5:-5 I wish i could catch JUST ONE. I am far from a cruel person. But what I would do to them. I think they would think TWICE. about owning or abusing another:mad::mad: helpless:mad::mad::mad::mad: beast,:mad::mad::mad:

Ive not read this Thread as quite simply I cant as I know it would just upset me to much......however I can tell you that I saw this lovely Dog on the tele today and he looked fantastic.....he lives with some lovely people now who have many "saved" animals and after seeing the pictures that were shown of him when he was first arrived no way does it look the same dog.The Vet said that at first when there was no way he could be fed much he used to look at her as if to say......cant I have any more please.....but she couldn't of course and it took time. When asked why it wouldn't have been easier to put him down she said as she was trying to help him he looked at her helpless as if he knew that at last someone was helping him and she knew she had to do whatever it took.Well good on her......never mind giving awards to Morris Dancers and Highly Paid over rated so called Celebs......give it to people like that God Bless her and her team.:-4
