shamed shoesmiths greedy cash grab the AA grumpy column

Post by pantoandy »

hello again its only me the grumps.

shamed sharon shoesmith once again make the news as she tries to milk the

compensation cash cow.

ARROGANT Sharon Shoesmith yesterday began a legal battle for up to £173,000 compensation after being fired over the death of Baby P.

The bungling ex-head of children’s services appeared before an appeals panel with a 500-page dossier to claim she was unlawfully sacked.

And The Sun can reveal Shoesmith, 55, is claiming that both Children’s Secretary Ed Balls and Haringey Council acted illegally.

She and her high-powered legal team are claiming that the damning report into the scandal which led to her dismissal was UNTRUE

And they will argue that other people have still received compensation despite being fired.

Shoesmith had refused to resign from her £110,000 job or even say sorry – despite a “fundamental loss of trust and confidence in her ability following the shocking death of 17-month-old Baby P

She was finally booted out in December after Sun readers backed the biggest petition in newspaper history – with 1.5 million people demanding she go.

But a source claimed last night: “She’s come out all guns blazing and is using every possible angle to get as much money as possible.

“Shoesmith is basing her appeal on the grounds that the panel failed to apply the law properly, and failed to check whether the findings of the highly critical report into Baby P were true.

“She also believed Ed Balls acted above the law in forcing the council to dismiss her.

Baby P died in his blood-soaked cot after suffering 50 injuries over months of agonising torture.

Despite officials seeing him around 60 times, he was left with his abusive mother, aged 27, step-dad, 32, and their lodger, 36.

All three await sentence after being convicted over his death.

Mr Balls used emergency powers to remove Shoesmith from her post after a comprehensive probe into her department’s failure.

A report drawn up by government inspectors delivered a “damning verdict on the current management of safeguarding children in Haringey. Shoesmith’s department was described as being in chaos, making basic errors in the care of the vulnerable infant.

She also she led a whitewash review into the case herself.

Shoesmith, who stands to pick up a £1.5million pension pot, is understood to have hired top employment lawyer Tony Child – who has represented former Mayor Ken Livingstone.

Around ten people are sitting in on her hearing, including councillors, lawyers and Haringey human resources bosses. It is likely to last three days with the panel expected to take at least two weeks considering their verdict.

Employment experts say that if Shoesmith wins she is likely to pocket her notice salary – thought to be £110,000 for 12 months – plus a £10,000 redundancy payout.

If she loses, she could take her fight to an employment tribunal and get even more, demanding the maximum unfair dismissal payout of £63,000 plus her notice pay – a total of £173,000.

But last night one legal expert poured scorn on her claims.

She said: “Her argument seems based on claims that Ed Balls was wrong to step in and the council should not have used what his report said as a basis to sack her.

“But the burden is on her to prove they got it wrong.

words fail me to describe this arrogant greedy woman its one cow hoping to milk the other.

shoesmith must not be rewarded for her bungling even though shes probably hoping to pocket the cash and jet off on a long holiday untill all this blows over

and slip back in to another local authority doing the same job or back into harringay via the back door in a lesser post.

unfortunatley sharons time is nigh and hopefully there wont be a labour government when she gets back as the labour party seem to look after their own

and are probably hoping to sweep this whole affair quietly under the mat.

shoesmith must never again hold a position of trust and any pay out shoesmith recieves would be blood money for the 2 children that died while suposedly in her care.

although i could suggest a suitable post for sharron shoesmith within harrigay social services HEAD CLEANER in charge of the mops buckets and brushes.:yh_rotfl
