Are You A Calorie Counter?

Post by Lon »

How many calories in certain portions of food is readily available from a number of sources, like the internet. Also, how many calories are burned up by certain physical activities, like walking, riding a bike etc. It's still a mystery to me as to why so much money is spent on Diet Programs when weight reduction is simply a matter of burning more calories than is consumed. If I am wrong, please explain to me. You can eat 10,000 calories a day (which is huge), but if you burn 12,000 calories a day you will loose weight. Pretty simple eh?

OK, but is there a way to determine how many fat grams are burned by a measured physical activity?

IF you are looking at a good calorie counter go to FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

It has many functions that are free and absolutely wonderful journals, menu of foods that is searchable by name.

The rule of thumb is you have a sedentary life style then you should take your weight multiplied by 15 calories to see how many calories you are eating a day.

Then take that number and reduce it by 500 calories you will burn 1 lb per week of weight. = a 1 lb weight loss.

For each pound you lose be ready to decrease the amount and recalculate every few months so the amount of calories continues to shrink that you are eating.

To maintain you weight simply eat the amount of weight x calories of 15 per day.

Does this make sense.
