Live Like You Were Dying!

Post by Hope6 »

MrsK's thread got me to thinking!

if only we could live our lives like the lyrics of this song!

Live Like You Were Dying

He said I was in my early forties

with a lot of life before me

when a moment came that stopped me on a dime

and I spent most of the next days

looking at the x-rays

Talking bout the options

and talking bout sweet time

I asked him when it sank in

that this might really be the real end

how's it hit you when you get that kinda news

man what'd you do

and he said

I went sky diving

I went Rocky Mountain climbing

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu

and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter

and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying

and he said someday I hope you get the chance

to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband

that most the time I wasn't

and I became a friend a friend would like to have

and all the sudden going fishin

wasn't such an imposition

and I went three times that year I lost my dad

well I finally read the good book

and I took a good long hard look

at what I'd do if I could do it all again

and then

I went sky diving

I went Rocky Mountain climbing

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu

and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter

and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying

and he said someday I hope you get the chance

to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about

what'd you do with it what did you do with it

what did I do with it

what would I do with it'

Sky diving

I went Rocky Mountain climbing

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu

and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter

and I watched an eagle as it was flying

and he said someday I hope you get the chance

to live like you were dying.

To live like you were dying

To live like you were dying

To live like you were dying

To live like you were dying

CATS IN THE CRADLE

My child arrived just the other day

come to the world in the usual way

but there were planes to catch

and bills to pay

he learned to walk while I was away

he was talking for a minute

and as he grew

he'd say I'm gonna be like you Dad

you know I'm gonna be like you

And the cats in the cradle

and the silver spoon

little boy blue and the

man on the moon

when you comin' home son

I don't know when

we'll get together then

you know we'll have

a good time then

Well my son turned ten

just the other day

he said thanks for the ball Dad

come on let's play

can you teach me to throw

I said not today - I got a lot to do

he said that's o.k.

and he walked away and he

smiled and he said

you know I'm gonna be like him yeah

you know I'm gonna be like him

And the cats in the cradle ...

Well he came from college

just the other day

so much like a man I just had to say

I'm proud of you could you

sit for a while

he shook his head

and he said with a smile

what I'd really like Dad

is to borrow the car keys

see you later can I have them please

And the cats in the cradle ...

I've long since retired

my son's moved away

I called him up just the other day

I'd like to see you if you don't mind

he said

I'd love to Dad

if I could find the time

you see my new job's hassle

and the kids have the flu

but it's sure nice talking to you Dad

it's been sure nice talking to you

and as I hung up the phone

I occured to me

he'd grown up just like me

my boy was just like me

And the cats in the cradle ...

And the cats in the cradle ...
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. R.L. Binyon

Odie said To live like you were dying

Good idea, Odie ! None of us really know when our time on earth will end so we should treasure every minute that we still have on earth and stop putting off things that we want to do. I've heard it said before that it isn't the things that we did but the things that we didn't do that we regret the most and I agree with the person who ( originally) said that.

However, what with working and many personal responsibilities that each of us have to take care of in our daily lives, it's kind of difficult to live as though each day was our last. Personally, I know that there are a lot of things that I would like to do but haven't found the time to do yet because of my busy life.
Happiness is not a destiny. It is a daily goal. :)

I want my money back

I want my money back

Its all or nothing

And nothings all I ever get

Every time I turn it on

I burn it up and burn it out

Its always something

Theres always something going wrong

Thats the only guarantee

Thats what this is all about

Its a never ending attack

Everythings a lie, and thats a fact

Life is a lemon and I want my money back!

And all the morons

And all the stooges with their coins

Theyre the ones who make the rules

Its not a game - its just a rout

Theres desperation

Theres desperation in the air

It leaves a stain on all your clothes

And no detergant gets it out

And were always slipping through the the cracks

Then the movies over - fade to black

Life is a lemon and I want my money back!

I want my money back

I want my money back

What about love?

Its defective!

Its always breaking in half

What about sex? !

Its defective!

Its never built to really last

What about your family?

Its defective!

All the batteries are shot

What about your friends?

Theyre defective!

All the parts are out of stock

What about hope?

Its defective!

Its corroded and decayed

What about faith?

Its defective!

Its tattered and its frayed

What about your gods?

Theyre defective!

They forgot the warranty

What about your town?

Its defective!

Its a dead end street to me

What about your school?

Its defective!

Its a pack of useless lies

What about your work?

Its defective!

Its a crock and then you die

What about your childhood?

Its defective!

Its dead and buried in the past

What about your future?

Its defective!

And you can shove it up your ass!!

I want my money back

I want my money back

Its all or nothing

And nothings all I ever get

Every time I turn it on

I burn it up and burn it out

Its a never ending attack

Everythings a lie, and thats a fact

Life is a lemon and I want my money back!

And were always slipping through the the cracks

Then the movies over-fade to black

Life is a lemon and I want my money back!
