Hi Jas...i think you're kidding about getting snockered first...it's illegal for them to tattoo someone drunk. no reputable place will do it. my only pragmatic and strong advice is get it in a place not likely to wrinkle or sag in later years! keep it to firm areas. ;) have fun!

I can almost guarantee you that the day will come when you will regret getting tattooed. I was 19 and it was a beauty, done by the best in Hong Kong. Today it's ugly and doesn't represent who I have become.

Go for it---at least you'll be able to cover it up when you're at work, or when you turn 83 and decide that the world doesn't need to see it anymore. But don't get drunk...not only do reputable places NOT do that, as LC pointed out, it'll make you bleed. Not so good!

Doesn't it represent who you were though? I'm hoping that's the way I'm going to see my tattoos in the future... which I think (I hope) will be as important a part of me as who I will have become...

Hey Jas...

Go for it. I have 4 of them and each one represents something to me. Like LC says, don't get all drunked up.. not good and any reputable parlor won't ink ya if ya are blasted outta your mind..... make sure the artist works clean, new needles and ink for each piece.. etc etc etc... and after it is done.. take a pic and give us a look..

good luck and remember the bumper sticker...

I recommend you get drunk. Drink till you pass out. Then when you wake up maybe you will have changed your mind. Your beautiful body needs no embellishment. Just imagine if hairstyles were permanent. Would you want to walk around with your 1980's do?

But if you insist on getting branded, take a before and after pic and post them both. No particular reason; I just like to look at bikini pics.

You asked the question and this is my honest answer.

Yes you are right. It represents who I was; young, immature and drunk.

My ship was leaving 'Frisco. My gal was crying again.

We past the place for tattooing. Uh, oh, I went and walked right in.

Hey, mister, you've gotta help me. Hey, mister, make it fast

And on my arm put a picture, uh, oh, and make it last and last.

[Chorus:]

With a ribbon (with a ribbon) and a heart (and a heart)

And an arrow (and an arrow) running through (running through)

And her name (and her name) in the middle (in the middle)

In the middle of a blue tattoo (blue tattoo).

Sailed to Polynesia with gals of beauty and charm

But you know what made me resist them? Uh, oh, the tattoo on my arm.

Came back over the water. Saw my gal at the shore

Holding hands with a sailor, uh, oh, and on his arm he wore

Just a ribbon (just a ribbon) and a heart (and a heart)

And an arrow (and an arrow) running through (running through)

And her name (and her name) in the middle (in the middle)

In the middle of a blue tattoo (blue tattoo).

Went back to the tattoo shop in town at the end of the wharf.

Said, "Mister, you've got to help me, uh, oh, and take the darn thing off."

He said, "Oh, sailor remember you told me make it fast.

I made it just like you told me, uh, oh, it's gonna last and last."

[Chorus]
Look what the cat dragged in.

If you must, I believe the rule is to get it in a fatty area. Wrists & ankles hurt more, as I understand it.

Just seen this thread, so is the idea of getting drunk for the pain, or to give you courage to go through with it?

Do they give you an anaesthetic to have tattoo's??

No to drunk no to anesthetic, why you ask, because it leads to the potential of the ink running. I know where i have had my past 2 done those are not options. And besides they are not that painful.

Jives hunny I disappoint you, I have both tattoo's and a cat and dog in my house ahahahaha

As for locations choose low pain areas, thigh is good, not much saggage going to happen there, good muscles, as long as your not a jumbo and your thigh is the size of my waist. That is a very low pain area, back too as long as you do not have a flabby hangy back, and as with most areas, the more detail you go with and more outline used that is going to hurt more, as outline goes deepest color and shading less deep. Really and truly if you know meditation you can get through it. As well how big is the tattoo the larger it is of course the more antsy you will be. My first was 45 min straight no break no big deal other than I am ticklish and that made me flinch. Second 1 hour straight through, and only one small bit of what I would call discomfort.

I always thought I wanted a tattoo. I always walked out before I actually got it. 2 years ago my daughter and I were walking on Venice Beach in CA when an Asian woman came out of her shop, took my arm, looked me in the eye and said "I have your tattoo". I knew she was just trying to drum up business but I wanted to see what she had in mind. It was an oriental symbol meaning "to live". I decided what the heck and let her put it on my left shoulder. One month later I was diagnosed with breast cancer - you got it - on my left side.

If my brother is able to be my donor we're going to get matching tattoos.

Something that symbolizes our connection, emotionally and physically.

Something that is a statement about giving the gift of life.

He wants to get a naked lady.

I don't think I should agree to that, even if he DOES give me his kidney. Of course, he doesn't like the idea of getting Patrick Stewart tattoos so we're still at a standstill. And of course, we have to wait for all the tests as well.

The worst places to tattoo are over bones where you don't have much fat. Love handles are less painful. Since your kidney's have shut down and aren't infected it is better to leave them in. My Dad was a doc. My Grandma had 4 functioning kidneys - she gave 2 of them to other people.
