When people have a lot of time on their hands they tend to reminisce over the past. In their compulsion to look back and explain themselves, they sometimes become depressed. What is done is past and no amount of thinking and/or talking about it is going to change it. When the time spent thinking about the past brings depression to the present, the future is in jeopardy of being wasted.

Regret over past errors is not always wisdom unless you change yourself to bring about a better future. It is a temptation to mourn for what we are not. A better focus in looking back would be to reflect back on those things which brought us to be the person we are today.

What in your past has most shaped you to become the person you are?

"Out, damned spot! out, I say!"
