I need a favor

Post by QUINNSCOMMENTARY »

I spend a great deal of time on the Internet, much of it here and the rest on my own website. My wife says I am wasting my time...better spent doing...well other stuff I don't like to do.

She says nobody reads my writing in any case.

So I need a favor, will you just log on to my website so I can show her that there are people taking a look.

Word of warning, you will find some stuff the same as I post here but lots of other stuff as well.

Just a click on Quinnscommentary and I get out of doing gardening, cleaning the garage and the attic. :)

PS Tell anyone else you know to give it a try, the more the less so to speak.

I checked out your web, and have been there before as well, you post interesting stuff.

But also heed your wife’s words, it sounds like she thinks you are spending too much time on the internet, and based on the volume of writings you have, you may just want to make sure that you are paying enough attention to your good wife as well.

Checked out the site, cool idea, I should do that myself, I love my own opinions! :wah:

Seriously though, you tell your wife that plenty of people read what you write and think about it, I certainly do, though not all the topics you discuss are of much interest to me as about specific issues in your own country.

So I for one salute you sir, and long may you continue to provoke us with your commentaries and opinions. :-6

I remember now. I meant to mention this the last time I was on your website. You need to make the pages narrower. There's nothing more aggravating than having to scroll left and right all the time to read every line.

(Proof that I read your stuff.)

Done. If you want to get out of gardening then shabby (as in untended) gardens are actually better for wildlife. birds need all those seeds from the weeds everybody else pulls up. You don't ant to use nasty insecticides or pesticides. Cutting the grass just ensures it gets scorched in the sun. My neighbour spends ages and lots of money keeping his lawn weed free and grassy. I don't bother and my moss covered lawn looks green all the time and I give handfuls of the stuff to my neighbours for their hanging baskets. Failing that plant a big hedge so no one can see the garden. What's she doing in the garage? if it bothers her that much keep the door shut or buy her a brush to clean it wit. There problem solved for you.

Well folks, I truly appreciate your help. I showed my wife some of the comments, she was impressed, but not to the extent of cutting up her honey do list.

On the other hand I must explain that there is good reason for my hesitation to be a home improvement guru. First, I break into a sweat at the mere thought of going to a Home Depot or a lumber yard. I try on occasion to ask for this or that item, but quickly realize I have no idea what I am talking about.

Let me illustrate my skills.

A few years back my wife talked me into replacing a wall outlet in our daughters room.

So, what do you do first, you turn off the circut breaker to that outlet which I did.

I then removed the old outlet using my trusty screwdriver, I think it was called Philip and pliers (can't remember why I needed pliers).

After making the exchange for a new outlet, I plugged in the lamp...and it immediately went on.

Think about it.

Remember I didn't say I turned the circut breaker back on.

At that point I was banned from all future electrical work. On another occasion I tried to change a leaky washer and we ended up replacing the entire faucet and eventually the sink as I dropped the wrench and chipped the porcelin.

I guess everyone is safer if I just keep at this keyboard. ;)
