I actually agree with the disabled charity. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on his politics (Well, not in my house they aren't) but his comments are below the belt. Love him or not, GB is disabled and that tossers comment is an insult.

Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray said: "Such a comment is really a reflection on Jeremy Clarkson and speaks for itself.
"Most people here are proud that the Prime Minister is a Scot and believe him to be the right person to get the UK through this global economic crisis."
No we're not most of us with any sense hate the bastard and want rid if him.

I only have a couple of comments because I am NOT a fan of JC who I consider a bully and a childish idiot, or GB for whom I am losing respect .....
A guy on the radio (with one eye) was annoyed to be referred to as disabled as he lives a full and complete life.
Anther stupid Clarkson comment :-
Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has prompted more than 500 people to complain to the BBC about a joke he made on Sunday's motoring show.
Clarkson, 48, was taking part in a lorry-driving task, when he joked about lorry drivers killing sex workers. "Change gear, change gear, check mirror, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That's a lot of effort in a day," he said.

I find this offensive. Truth is, we all call politicians and famouse people names and i admit i have been very nasty about 'Blunkett' my self. However, i think that when your in the publice eye, you have to show a little more decoum anr the fact that GB is our Prime Minister makes it out-rageous.
I hope he's pillored anong with that othe soppy numb nuts, Johnathon Ross.

I am not the greatest Gordon Brown fan in the world, but I don't think that Clarkson's comment was appropriate at all. It was personally offensive to the U.K. Prime Minister and also I can see how some people could be offended by the stupid childish one-eyed Scottish jibe; thats stuff for the playground, and ok Clarksons persona is the whole blokish guy who can't grow up thing, but still and all.
I know its good we have a less deferential society in the West than we used to, and in general thats a good thing, but there are limits, and Gordon Brown is just a person doing a job, also there should be some respect to his high office as well as his person; that sort of comment is peyond the pale in my opinion.
Plain speaking is fine, but being grossly offensive on a public platform about someone in this way is just juvenile and crass. Also, as Oscar has aluded to, this man is the Prime Minister, Clarkson should show a little more respect.
Thats my opinion on it anyway.

Politicians are fair game. we really do not want to go the route in they have in America where political leaders cannot be valled names and lampooned by members of the electorate.
Gordon brown is one eyed, if he had one leg he would be one legged why is it offensive to describe someone as one eyed or crippled when they are in fact one eyed or even crippled. It's a statement of fact not a somehow derogatory comment about them or about disabled people in general. It's like calling people senior citizens rather than old age pensioners-they are old there's nothing wrong with being old.
He is Scottish
he is an idiot.
I would also add sanctimonious, smug and one of the most destructive numpties we have ever had the misfortune to have sitting in number 10.
Jeremy clarkson is a curly haired English twit. Have I now offended everyone with curly hair and all english people and should i apologise.
It's the double standards. Carol Thatcher made her comment in private. if she was called a bit of upper class totty by a black man should he be sacked if the comment was made in private? arguably it is a compliment-so was carol thatcher, i gather she called him a huggable gollywog.
Jonathan ross and russell brand were offensive in ridiculing someone who is no longer in the public eye and making sexual comments about his granddaughter. If he couldn't work out that was going to be offensive they have no business on the radio.
jeremy clarkson was asked his opinion and gave it as an individual not as a representative of the bbc. The language was restrained compared to what most people actually think of gordon brown. What he has done along with hos crony tony blair is deeply offensive, dishonest and if they ever release the cabinet papers may in fact be criminal. That they won't rather suggests he has something to hide. Gordon brown owes us an explanation. If you don't jeremy clarkson don't watch top gear.

I am all for satire and plain speaking, and yes sometimes public figures do deserve ridicule for their nonsense. I just think in this instance it was a bit too personal, and unfair on GB, its not his fault about his eye, also being Scottish is not something that I would consider to be perjorative, far from it.
Despite the cold (and the danger of standing in a chipper in Glasgow past a certain time of night, mostly cholesterol related danger it has to be said), Scotland is a remarkable place in many ways and its people are likewise quite remarkable. Though to be fair to Clarkson he doesn't totally hate the Scots or Scotland, I think that's because they have produced a lot of good engineers and he is into that stuff.
In terms of him being a smug sanctimonious hypocrit, well at least those are arguable adult insults, unlike the juvenile nonsense that passes for comment these days. He does have some right to personal respect while he remains the Prime Minister as he represents the State, your state. We do need to have some respect for authority.
I have to say one of the saddest features of modern British life is the tabloidization of its culture and discourse to a point where inanity, crassness, shock-value, vulgarity, and childish insult becomes one of the main measures by which a discourse can be measured. Thats what happens when you turn public debate into an exercise in making money, just like everything else.
Also, I do watch Top Gear, and I like Clarkson, he is a funny guy, and he has an appealing persona in some ways; but he does on occasion descend into basically being an insulting, facile, middle-aged English prat, (though he would be the first to admit this I think)

Disabled Charities demand apology from Clarkson for calling Brown a 'one eyed'
Galbally;1131022 wrote: I am all for satire and plain speaking, and yes sometimes public figures do deserve ridicule for their nonsense. I just think in this instance it was a bit too personal, and unfair on GB, its not his fault about his eye, also being Scottish is not something that I would consider to be perjorative, far from it, Scotland is a remarkable place in many ways and its people are likewise quite remarkable.
Clarkson has dropped to the same level as Ross where-by these idiots think it's funny to insult a celebrity or politician. They think it's clever and everyone is going to think they are cool.
Even if it wasn't GB he insulted and it was Blunkett or Cameron, i'd still be annoyed. I don't care what he thinks of him as a politician.... to insult him because he has a disability is just loathsome.
I see that he's been made to apologise but would not apologise for calling him an idiot.
I think we have a serious problem in this country where kids have absolutely no respect for anything or anybody in authority. When kids see that it's ok to mock by what is supposed to be a celebrity, then it's ok to do it to the kid with one eye at school.
I used to read Clarkson's column in 'The Sun' and one of the things he is always banging on about is yob culture. Well, he just set a brilliant example didn't he?
the man's a knob and the sooner he's off our screens the better.

That's how they draw you in. You start seeing them as human beings and before yo know it you are in pearls and twin sets serving tea and biscuits at the conservative club as a token working class convert they can patronise.

My mum wore a twin set, pearls, blue rinse and served tea at the club. She was quite Thatcheresque in that respect.
The local hack e mailed me last night. He wants to do a small piece on the young Tory and myself. No pics... I am not being papped with a Tory. The Tory Councillors who supported me through my trial and Mr O and I meet occassionally and it is quite wierd as one feels one must put on a blue suit on these occassions and i get the urge to make vol-u-vonts to take along.
It's not like that down the Labour club. That's brown ale and sausage rolls.

Do they let women in the labour club nowadays? Some of the old labour round here are amazingly sexist. It's a real shock to come face to face with it when you do.

Not sure about the rest of the country but here, they didn't have women until recently. They used to have a room where women were confined to once a week and not allowed in the main room or bar. It still goes on in these 'gentlemens clubs' all over the country. I'm surprised some can still get away with it.

It's one of the reasons labour party membership is declining. Younger people just think it ridiculous and don't bother wasting their time and the cliques go on in their own little world. Some of them would almost rather have a tory get in than a woman represent them.

Well, there is the bizarre thing with myself. I do not like women politicians and i don't really know why. Thatcher was different because she was half man. Some of Brown's are a joke and i can't abide the likes of Harriot Harmen.
I think the young associate labour with old fashioned fusty old men where they see the Tory party as up-beat and trendy.
