Yes, and when we hold the referendum again, which we will, you will find the result will be more like 65 percent YES, and 35 percent NO. Thank god.
That referendum will be held in October probably, or maybe earlier given what's happening to our economy. Once thats over, we can just get on with it and move on.
The fact is that most Irish people believe that their country's future is as part of the EU, despite the fact that there are issues within the EU and the European project in general.
We are happy enough in the Euro, and in the EU, in using kilometers, and learning to speak European languages. We are not fundamentally hostile to the EU, unlike the majority of British people, who are, for a variety of reasons.
Its just a political fact of life.
