Gas Boycott

Subject: Gas Boycott

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"

campaign that was going around last April or May!

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50

Is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.75 for regular unleaded in My

town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have

Conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at

$1.50-$1.75,

We need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control

The marketplace.... not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers

Need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas

Come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing

Their gas!

And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying

gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force

a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the

Two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they

Are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.

If

They reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of

Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't

whimp

(sic) out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it

is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you

send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at

least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the

message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have

reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten

Friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it

goes

One level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T

Purchase ANY gasoline from EXXON and MOBIL. That's all.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email

Out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION

people

Could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you

didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting

together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on to.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30

RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORKThis was sent to me and I thought I would share it with you.

I am just avoiding the big chain gas stations. But I thought this would be interesting to see How we should all work together to bring down gas Prices. And that we have the power of Voice here in America, and othere democratic places. It's more expensive in europe because I heard on Fox yesterday because they have smaller countries. I guess Texas is way bigger then England. And her we have longer and farther to drive. It something to do with that fact. But anyway this is just a sample of people doing what they can to make life better.

I thought the suggestion was not to "not drive" but rather to not buy gasoline from Exxon or Mobile. Which gas stations are affiliated with them, besides (obviously) the Exxon-Mobile stations? We don't have either where I live. Where I live BP (British Petroleum) is the big one and they use Amoco fuel.

Prices are determined by the world oil prices - and those prices are established by supply and demand. Monetarily, they are set by the futures market.

Boycotting stations in the U.S. is a waste of time. It will only hurt the employees of those companies. We are competing with India, China, and Europe for oil now.

The only thing that's going to bring down prices is a dramatic decrease in the demand. And...that's not likely to occur since China and India are going through an economic industrial revolution now - and they are feeding economies that need to support about 2 billion people. The United States supports about 280 million.

The disparity in the population numbers should tell the whole story.

First of all I have to drive. I have to small children and one who is sick all the time. I have husband who has to get to work . he bikes to work but I pick him up. esecially since it's been so hot out.

Second, I didn't write this. This was sent to me and I was asked to pass it through. I mean if you have to drive, then drive. But I am saying if you can save from going to like, Ie an amusement parks , then find something else to do that doesn't require gasoline. Maybe then the tourist industry will put pressure on the gas people to lower there prices.

third, What I told you, I told you that I heared them on fox. So don't in essence shot the messenger

Who's shooting the messenger? There are replies to your post, some debating the authenticity, or realism of the article. Or, like mine, pointing out that there's already a thread with this exact article. Nobody is shooting the messenger.

Not meaning to shoot the messenger. FG is about News. Debate. *and Discussion.

And yes, those email things that people send you are usually highly recycled items. Most people don't realize that some of the stuff circulating back in 1985 and 1986 on the BBS's are still making their rounds.

I hope not too many smokers are bitching about increased gas prices. At $3.00 to $10.00 a pack (depending on where you live) that buys a fair amount of gasoline, not too mention cutting down pollution and savings your lungs.

Trying not to be rude, but, your argument is incredibly weak.

It seems, based on your line of logic, that if we took several intimately unrelated things and linked them together, i think we could create a strong force to destroy the moon. The moon revolves around Earth causing tides. Tides erode beaches. The moon also causes techtonic shifts. Many species of turtles use beaches for reproduction. Strong techtonic shifts cause leakage of many things, including magma. We don't want the turtles to die, or lava to eat up poor innocent children... so... the only course of action, according to desperate logic, is blow up the moon.

Please..... be careful with any association you make :)

Apples are not Oranges... I am still trying to understand how you jumped from gas to smoking. Please elaborate.

P.S. They're my lungs, not yours
