Smelly perfume stuff

I am beginning to think I am one of the only people in the world that cannot walk down the cleaning isle of the grocery store, can never enter a department store at women's perfume department, or handle any incense. I have to leave. I hate the smelly deoderants, aftershaves and soaps. I have never been able to stand overwhelming smells or overabundance of artificial smells. Yes that includes BO. Am I just really weird?

Don't think you're wierd at all! My mom and sister have always been the same way.....my mom even says that aisle at the supermarket can give her a BAD headache. She has to be fast! Now here's an idea for you....wouldn't it be nice if stores would start separating the fragrance free stuff from all the rest? I for one really don't mind the smells, but why should the people that do, have to walk down that overly scented aisle to get their "fragrance free" product???!!!

Your not weird I'm the same way, smells do me in. I get a headache when I go into store and have to pass the perfumes. My smell is so keen it drives me nuts. The only perfume I can wear is CHANEL #5.. :-2 When I was younger and went to Mass and they would do the insence thing one time I passed out the smell overpowered me. :-3

Me 3. I get headaches from certain smells. Anything synthetic either gives me a headache or makes me feel nausiated! But natural smells for me are fine (like essential oils or incense that isn't made we synthetic materials. But when I go into the yankee doodle candle company store I get sick.

I am not "allergic" but I have a keen sense of smell. I can only wear "good" perfumes, like chanel or obsession... etc. I have one bottle at a time because my budget does not allow for my taste

I have to read the list and run down the cleaning aisle holding my breath.

I can NOT go into those funky shops that burn incense.

I once had to get up and go outside during a catholic funeral... I did my best but I just could not stand the incense. I use mostly "unscented" products, or things that smell like fruit.

I love aromas, candles, perfumes, colognes.

I smell everything !

I wear cologne often, lately Polo Blue

I love Chanel Chance & Givenchy Amarige on my wife

When Im in the store I pick up products & stick them in my face, dryer softeners, 409, ammonia I like it all !

I hate the detergent aisle and the cleaining aisle. If I'm shopping with my wife, I'll wait at the end until she's found what she wants, then I'll rush the cart to her to get whatever it is. I hate to inhale there, nose or mouth!

I'm not keen on colognes or perfumes either. I prefer unscented deodorant. I'll wear Polo on special occasions to please my beloved, but it's close to torture. And as for my beloved, she smells better than any perfume to me, but she likes to wear it.

Yet, I insist that a flower garden have smells. Jasmine is wonderful. I live nature's fragrances.

ME TOO! I love scent! I once got paid by a marketing research company when they were looking for people that love the scents! I got paid $100 and got about 40 loads worth of free fabric softener!

When I shop, I have to smell everything before I buy....I get a little crazy!!!

I like nearly all scents from natural flowers to Incense....perfume, candles, wacky perfume (petchulli) the lot....I also like the smell of Dettol and any cleaning stuff that smells of lavendar.

I hate the smell of Wrights coal tar, TCP (antiseptic), any candles ,perfume etc that is fruity like strawberrys and peach and Vanilla (They are only good for eating).

We have a chain of shops in the UK called LUSH....supposed to be all natural and you buy soap by the 'lump'. i don't use the soap because i prefer liquid stuff so I use the lumps of soap in amongst my clothes to make them smell nice.

M&S do a room spray that smells of new mown grass...

We have a BIG M&S near us...they do EVERYTHING....it's great.

Marks and Spencers.....I thought they were world wide....just checked ....They have franchises in 30 countries round the world but not in the US or Canada....seems to be far east and Europe.

They are a good quality store that also sells absolutely scrummy food...rather expensive though.

Not exactly.

Traditionally, it has always emphasised the quality of its goods e.g clothing and food. I'm envious of Bez, living near a big store.

Ahhhh....smelly stuff. I'm lucky, my sense of smell has been deadened for years after working in the vet clinics. Something in my brain built up a defense mechanism so I would be able to work on animals that were, shall we say, a mite stinky. Abcesses, rotten wounds, various fungi, all assault the senses.

I can still pick up massively strong smells, like a person who has marinated in their cologne, and yes, it sucks. You can almost see the fumes shimmering off them like the hood of a hot car on a summer day. Blech.

was on of my first pressies from my guy

at the time it was all quite fitting because i was kinda taking a chance in life.....

coco chanel is lovely too

I loved your phrase: "A person who has marinated in their cologne"! It's like if they stopped walking for a second, they would leave a "puddle"! :wah:

Most smells don't get to me, except for the smells in the store called "Crabtree & Evelyn", what ever is in those stores makes me choke. So I wait outside while my wife shops in there. :wah:

Why do people feel the need to bathe in perfume or cologne? It kind of makes me wonder what they are trying to cover up.:sneaky: Also, why do older ladies wear flowery perfume? I hate being near one that smells like a funeral home.

I think you may be right...yes you are....just loked on the net....Asda became part of the Walmart 'family' in 1999....oh well...haven't seen any changes in our local store !

I agree, Peg. I think some ladies just get so used to their own cologne that they just stop smelling it, and so put it on stronger and stronger. Don't they notice the paint peeling?
