Sir Fred 'might flee Britain' over £700,000 pension row | Mail Online

The sooner Gordon Brown gets rid of that idiotic disgrace Harriot Harmen, the better.

No-body wants to see these bank chiefs get their pensions or bonuses but legally they are entitiled to them and there's nothing she can do about it. She's making a scapegoat of 'Sir Fred' when it's already reported that there is a queue to the lawyers from bank staff over pension and bonus pay out.

There's a great deal she can do about it. If he made inaccurate statements in the process of securing the deal then he can certainly start by serving the next ten years at Her Majesty's pleasure.

I agree with you Spot but one rule for him, one rule for all of them. She seems to have a witch hunt target on him when they should be going after the lot of them.

I'm sure the police will check everything these sleazeball junket-mongering barrels of lard wrote or said with a view to rubbing their faces in a fraud charge. Sir Fred merely happens to be prominent in the press this week.

I somehow left out "bloodsucking", allow me to rectify the omission.

Payments in to pension schemes of this kind of amount require inland revenue approval. A company that is bankrupt is in no position to make these kind of payments. If lord myners didn't know that RBS was in deep trouble at this point one has to wonder what planet he was on.

But he failed to pin down that part of the package was discretionary - and therefore might have been stopped - before signing it off.

So if he was so bloody ignorant of the legal position what is he doing in his job and who appointed him? Anyone else with half a brain would at least have had the sense to find out before just agreeing to it.

Since the UK is now bankrupt can we stop tony blair and gordon get their pensions?

First of all, i can't stand the sight of Harriot Harmen and anything she does gets right up my chuff.

GB is not backing her in her quest to stop him getting his pension. hmmm:thinking:

It is incredible that any company run into bankruptcy can still insist these pensions and bonuses are paid.

Harriot Harmen is not doing any one any favours by targeting 'Sir Fred' as she seems to be. She is making it appear to the press as using him as an example.

Harriet harman along with all the otherMP's voted in the legislation that governs thses sort of payments. If they didn't understand it maybe they shouldn't have voted. Lord Myners has no excuse whatsoever. He had the final say he shouldn't need to ask the RBS if sir fred was entitled to it or not h should know whether he was. He APPROVED it that means he could have said no.
