American Idol..Dead in the Water

Post by flopstock »

My nine year old preferred to watch a Harry Potter movie last night rather then watch American Idol.

She said she's sick of that show. That all they do is make fun of people and put the freaks on. She says that on her shows, at least when someone is mean to someone else, they get punished for it. But that seems to be all they do on this show anymore, be mean to people.

And so she doesn't want to watch it anymore.

That's fine by me....

We had it on the night that the male judges put the bikini girl through and the female judges allowed it to happen. The message that sent to little girls across America is something the producers of that show should have been ashamed to air.

When Tatiana or whatever her name was, came back after the preliminaries and tried to recapture a little of her dignity, they just weren't interested in even offering an assist. They wanted their lunatic back, even though she was trying her damnedest to not embarrass herself again. They ended up as the embarrassment, IMO.

Maybe it's just that they've hit the bottom of the barrel, i don't know.. but when you can't capture the interest of my daughter(who loves anything related to singing and dancing) you've definitely derailed.

Most people only watch the first few episodes just to see Simon Cowell reduce some poor girl to tears. This is a good example

YouTube - X-Factor Vicky Pollard??

There is alot of talk here that ours are rigged. It's a heck of a co-incidence that the one's that get through have some illness or sad story to tell. It gets viewers and ratings. That's all they care about.

Wise girl.............:)

I never understood why those shows were so popular-it wasn't like Candid Camera where you caught someone unaware for a laugh. You intentionally set up many people to be laughed off the stage.

Actually last nights group was probably the most talented so far this season. Your daughter is right the judges are rude, nasty and insensitive. I will say this the young singer on the stage handle it very well poised for the most part when they are being insulted by the likes of Simon Cowell. :guitarist

My sister emailed me that tatiana got back in... sister was floored..

I emailed her back that we watched another Harry Potter movie instead, because all Idol was anymore - was another Jerry Springer or Maurie Povich show..

this just proved it, IMO..

Yes I watched the whole show. He is a San Diego kid with tons of talent. I actually think they have some of the best singers I have heard on the show for several season this group is pretty good. Adam just may win it he can sing.

Home town boy stole the show last night. Smokey gave him a standing ovation. :guitarist Kids got talent. Cleans up good as well reminds me of a young Kurt Russell. :)

She certainly wouldn't be a fan of Hell's kitchen, would she? It's gotten so bad with all of the bleepin' on that show that it's hard to comprehend what's going on anymore. :wah: I respect what your daughter is saying and it's good that she doesn't approve of that, but... sadly, that's reality... there's a lot of mean people out there.

I did catch that... that was based on a Jeff Buckley arrangement that he sang... while he's no Jeff Buckley and most certainly no Tim Buckley, he seemed to pull it off rather well, I felt.

American Idol has better talent than the other Idols, but... I can't bear to listen to some of them butcher all those songs up further along in the season, but I can't even watch when they're focusing on the absolute worst performances early on in the season.

Touché! I only see it en passant anymore, though. I rarely ever watch an entire episode of anything on television, I'd much rather watch a DVD or read a book.

Today I got my Netflix dvd....Delores Claiborne..will watch later on. Sitcoms are even more boring, although I do watch Cold Case on ABC & Desperate Housewives.
