Buttons

I just realised I have a sewing box full of them.. You know those extra buttons you get attached to a new piece of clothing you buy? I tend to throw them into the sewing box and forget about them . Some of the buttons are to clothing I threw out long ago. (probably because they were missing a button:D )

what do you do with the complimentary button that comes with your clothing, do you throw them out with the tags or keep them for a rainy day to sew on your garment just because you're bored?

Personally..... I can't be arssed with them. By the time a button falls off me, I've changed my mind about the outfit anyway :wah:

I use to keep them but now I throw them out with the tags

When you finally make dusters out of your worn out clothing don't you cut the buttons off and put them in your button tin - just in case?

I leave them on the garment, as they are usually in an inside, out-of-the-way place !:)

Yeah Gilly I usually remove them from the garment because sometimes they rub against the skin.

I got taught proper I did - you don't throw good bits like that away, might come in useful one day

Kids are always fascinated by buttons. If they keep the kids amused for a couple of hours then they're well worth keeping.

If you have loads that you don't want, give them to a primary school. They make great counters and are good for maths problems - how many pink buttons / how many blue buttons / which pile has most or least buttons (estimating skills) etc.

They could also be used in collages or for sewing or threading (using fine motor skills).

And if they're made of chocolate they're GREAT for eating!

Very good point Rapunzel.:-6 I was just thinking of that charity drive we had a while back for old sewing machines for women in rural third countrys. They'll need buttons surely? hhhmmmm you've just given me an idea.:-6:-6
