Let's Just Flush and Start Over
Government involvement in business has been the reason this isn't a short term problem. Their blind efforts only drag things out postponing the inevitable while making the inevitable more ominous.
Many of our national forests are in danger of destructive fire because of our practice of putting out the small fires that would have kept the fuel load from increasing to dangerous levels. The same thing is happening with the economy. If the government would let bad businesses fail their immoral or inept leaders would be flipping burgers instead of heading large corporations.
Our only hope is for Congress to go on a two year recess while the President goes to CIC School and focuses all of his attention on keeping us safe.
Let’s keep this thing in perspective. “Hard times for most of us is still one hundred times better than most of the people in this world have experienced every day of their lives.

How about when the good ole gov't wouldn't open oil rigs during the recent fuel shortage (or price increases I should say) or sell land (also areas in the Gulf of Mexico) to private businesses so THEY could drill for oil. Hell, STILL wont sell.
Thanks Big Bro
'preciate it

I think that might be the easy part for him. The part about not asking the troops to do something you're not willing to do...that may be another matter.

:yh_rotfl Well Gordon has a plan that he's announcing at the summit that Obama is coming for. Only one of two things can happen with this plan :yh_rotfl
OK Obama is going to be in Britain for 3 days and is going to meet the Queen. (I say Liz, he's a damn fuzzywuzzy). That's the Duke of Edinburgh saying that, not me :wah:
Are we going to get excited about Obama coming? ummmmmmmmmmmm .. NO in a nutshell. We will not be lining the streets to greet him and give him a cheery wave. Now if it was Hilary, it would be different as we'd turn out in our masses to greet her. Sorry but Britain does not like egotistical mavericks who think they are 'The New Messiah'.

Totally agree with all your post . I spent 3 seasons in the USFS fighting forest fires and find your comparison of the " practice of putting out the small fires" and "the economy" problems makes a whole lot of sense.:yh_clap :yh_clap :yh_clap

Her loyalty to her husband, the President and her country equally so. She's experienced, determined, smart, proven and respected especially here in Britain. Not just because she's a woman. Infact i would say that she is probably the only woman in history to have the same grit as Thatcher. Hilary has EARNED the respect.... Obama just expects it.

If none of the stimulus money gets spent and government doesn't do anything else, what's the worse thing that would happen?

sorry oscar but I dont see her as gritty, I see her as willing to sell everything she has to keep power. I could never be as educated as an American on their politicians as i would be on a British politician so i respect their is a lot of i don't understand. A similar thing happened to me recently when i was watching an American prog on sky. I think the interviewer was a guy called 'John Stewart', is that correct? Anyway he had Tony Blair on live. Your American audience was whooping and cheering him as if he was the Pope. I was thinking' America..... what's wrong with you?....... He's a lying cheating bastard and your cheering him.
Same with Hilary i guess, we don't see it all.
If i got that American Interviewer's mane correct....... he was brilliant.

Absolutely Clint. :yh_clap
Not only do we need to get gov't out of business, we need to get business, specifically big corporations, out of Washington. They buy politicians to get favorable laws passed, no matter how harmful they are to society as a whole. The gov't is supposed to serve the people. A corporation isn't a person. Corp's shouldn't be allowed to give campaign contributions or lobby Congress. Individual citizens, sure, but not corporations.

I applaud you both. People are the driving force for change, not government. Free enterprise weeds out the unwanted and unworkable and allows the best to flourish -- like in nature, the best survives..................

Actually, very little of it has been spent. A lot of people already think it's theirs but very few checks have been written.
