Mine text me more than call me. They have prepaid phones so it's cheaper.

We seem to be moving toward any form of communication that will keep us from actuallly talking to each other. I'd say it is the wave of the not too distant future. We get a lot of text messages from our kids.

I think so Chonsi,

I don't have kids of my own, but I do have 5 nieces and nephews that I've helped raise. They call me as they know that I don't like to text.

But, my cousins in Ireland will NOT use the net and prefer to text. So, I just pick up the phone and call them:p

I hate texting.

Jester, I finally broke down and bought a new Verizon "Motorola Krave" phone. It's fabulous. You can just turn it sideways and a full keyboard appears. You can click on individual keys. Carla advised me to get this phone, and I lubs it.

I feel so lucky to have available so many great ways of keeping in touch with my spread out family and firends. Photos and private chat on FaceBook. Text messages on cellphones. Phone calls. Emails. Occasionally even snail mail stuff. Tunes they think I'd like given to me in an iTunes gift. None of this takes the place of being together of course, but sure does enrich the times in between.

Oh and if that's a bit off the OP, my kids phone when there is time to talk or when they want to chat, and text otherwise. Texting is a fast and cheap way to send small pieces of information - or a quick hug.

Even care packages are a bit different, I guess, Jester. My favourite ever was a birthday present that took nearly two years in the making. I'd apparently expressed an interest in techno music. A set of four CDs arrived one day in the mail - a history of techno music compiled just for me with four pages of notes and personal observations. I treasure that care package - and learnt a heck of a lot from it too. :sneaky: I mean, who needs flowers or lacy hankies when you can get up close and personal with gangsta rap??!!!!

The son that lives out of state calls a couple of times a week.

My other son lives here on the ranch and drops by a couple of times a day generally.
