Fine Dining

Has anyone had any experience with fine dining ? Has anyone splashed out, even for a one off, on a really sumptuous posh bit of grub. I think its nice to indulge yourselves now and again if you can afford it. Me and my wife like to treat ourselves when away on holiday and find a good restaurant in which to immerse ourselves.

I am truly fascinated by Heston Blumenthal and dream about trying out his unusual taste combinations. What an experience

I did. Its not for me. It caused anxiety that I still havent recovered from. I think afterwards we went to a comedy club and got hammered while a pasty white guy told racist jokes.

That was much better than the dinner.

I'm moderately convinced that Grand Winter Warming case --- Estate Bottled Foods is extremely good value and I'm tempted to give it a go. There's few places in Bristol, since Harvey's closed, that would do anything that good. It depends on whether the ambience of servility is part of the charm.

With four hundred plus down with food poisoning I'll bet it must be an unusual taste combination :wah:

Not much fine dining to be had here;)

We do have an Italian restaurant we visit on our wedding anniversary .

Mostly we eat at home.

When we go on holidays, now that is different we dine out a lot.

So I guess that makes up for missing out where we live:-6:-6

We have a couple of really good restaurants a shortish drive away that we go to for a treat. Not cheap but really good food and amazing desserts.

Locally we have a few good pubs that do food and one in particular has a brilliant carvery with locally sourced meat.

But proper fine dining? Once, was intimidated............... haven't been back yet :wah:

I know what you mean. It can be intimidating for us humble types. Not knowing whether to doff yer cap at the other tables :wah:

Its choosing the wine I hate. I always get the feeling the wine waiter is groaning under his breath at my ludicrous choice

not my thing at all. Those kind of places always make me want to act extra bratty. Imagine that! :wah:

a comfy place with good food and music and ice cold beer is more my thing! :-6

My husband and i also like to find a really nice restaurant while on holidays:D i cant even remember the name of the last one we went to but it was lovely and i had sea bream done salted style,,gorgeous.

downstairs they had another part which was sort of an Asian infusion type, and the decor was fab!! they had an outdoor part with a pool, sun loungers, a massage temple and a four poster bed!!! we went there one day for lunch and had Paella and sangria:D

Im truly not bothered if i dont pick the right wine, or dont know what something is on the menu,, i just ask:)im not there to impress anyone im there to enjoy myself:Din fact people probably thought i was mad taking a picture of my dinner:yh_rotflwho cares it was cool and i wanted a pic:p

Yes, at my last job I had many business dinners at places that I would not dream of going into normally.

One of the most decadent was a dinner in a five star hotel next to the Palace of Versailles in Paris. They even provided little foot stools for woman to put their hand bags on so that they would not to have them on the ground or hanging from their chair.
