LOS ANGELES - A British builder who placed an ad in a trade magazine offering his nagging wife for sale was very surprised when he actually got several calls about her, according to the Daily Express .
Gary Bates decided to place the ad to get back at his wife for nagging him while she was watching TV.
The ad which reads, "Nagging Wife. No Tax, Not MOT. Very high maintenance - some rust," was placed in the "Free to Collect" section of the magazine.
Bates didn't expect to get any calls from the ad, but several men have contacted him to take her off his hands.
"I didn't think anyone would ring up but I've had at least nine or 10 people calling about her," he said. "It's gone mad. There was no one I knew -- just people asking, 'Is she still available?'"

Sounds like he was doing it as a prank on her. If he expected her to see the humor in it she's probably a keeper!:wah:

:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl I think he did it as a payback to her for doing who knows what to him. I found it funny. I can just see if I place an ad in the paper to take away 2 annoying teens. "Yes, they are free! They will unload your dishwasher, take their clothes upstairs, etc. and will argue with you if you ask".:yh_rotfl

She should take the sales ads, his credit card, and go shopping big time for that prank.

And with that credit card she should buy him his favorite pizza and beer in appreciation for not following through on the sale.

Just goes to show you should do your research first before you sell anything. Basic training, man.

the story said he did that to 'get back ' at her for nagging him while he was watching TV.
After a stunt like that, the TV would be somewhere that he would need a double sided mirror to watch it

Nagging is, allegedly, a sign of love.
But it's well known that men nag as well.
A sign of love.

I can understand why he loves you.
Make sure he's got his reasons for nagging you right, Odie.:-6

Actually, truth to be told, I can't remember the third line of that song by Led Zep. I could always dig it out and play it but I can't be arsed at the moment. Maybe later as it's starting to nag at me.
But this is the truth. Nagging is the worst expression of love.
I love you but...
I hate that but... kind of love.

“She was nagging me for doing something small, while she was watching some rubbish on TV. So I just thought I’d put an ad in to get rid of her.
“She’s seen the funny side of it now though!
The self-employed builder said his wife laughed at the anonymous advert before realising she was the one on special offer.
She gave him “a bit of an ear-bashing after the prank was revealed, he admitted.
this is from the 'Daily Express' where the story ran about him placing the ad.
