KAUTO STAR

:yh_worshp:yh_worshp:yh_worshp:yh_worshp:yh_worshp:-4

If you remember my thread 'You will be relieved to hear that I will be away for two days', on wednesday,

My opening post gave my prediction for the Gold Cup as :

1st... Kauto Star

2nd.. Denman

3rd.. Exotic Dancer

The result of the Cheltenhan Gold Cup was:

1st... Kauto Star

2nd... Denman

3rd ... Exotic Dancer.

A spectatcular battle of the champions infront of the Queen.

I'm very happy, very tired and I'll catch you soon

Welcome back, Oscar and well done. Thanks OM. Well, what a race? The biggest payout i have ever collected on one race as well as seeing racing history made.

Months ago when i put a thread on about Kauto, i also told Kazala to watch out for a horse called 'Paddy the Plasterer' at Cheltenham as well. He won his race at 8/1 also.

My bet on the Gold cup consisted of:

A Straight win on Kauto Star

A straight two horse fore-cast, Kauto 1st with Denman 2nd

A straight tri fore-cast on Kauto 1st, Denman 2nd and Exotic Dancer 3rd

A place bet on Denman

A place bet on Exotic Dancer.

I've done many a tri forecast in my time but the odds of one coming up in the exact order are slim. I've had a 1,3,4 before or a 2,3,4 before or a 1,2,4 before.

The horse i predicted to be 4th in the race 'War of Attrition' was pulled before the race to rest up for the Grand National soon which is a great sign for me as that's the horse i predict to win it this year.

As the race went under orders i ran out on to the balcony to join the toffs to watch. My view was head on so it's difficult to see beyond the leaders. If bro had put me on the track pitch, I wouldn't have been able to see a thing for the crowds.

As they came over the last 3rd fence, I could see Kauto's white blaze on his face take Denman with Exotic dancer coming up in 4th position. By the time they got to the 2nd last, i was screaming as i knew I had my Kauto win and my kauto and Denman fore-cast with a place on denman also. Over the last and i realised Exotic Dancer had broken through into 3rd. At this point I lost all sanity and didn't quite know what i was shouting loudest for. Probably just for Exotic Dancer to hang on in 3rd for my tri fore-cast. Usually a tri will pay out approx odds of 500/1 but with Kauto and Denman very heavilly backed down on the day, the odds for a Tote tri return were slimmer. all the same Exotic Dancers's odds of 8/1 saw the tote tri fore-cast pay out at just under 100/1.

I was really hoping some FG's would have at least had a £1 bet on my prediction which would have paid them £100 just under.

Also.... to jockey Ruby Walsh....What a star. A total of 9 wins at the 3 day festival.

What can I say. I could have done with the extra cash myself under the circumstances but gambling is not my faulte and I simply didn't have the cash to spare because sometimes I get an itching and I did on this occasion. C'est la vie. Given that every day is a gamble whether I will actually see it through or not, I'm doing good. But I respect that there's only a few people on this board who appreciate this fact.

Very true and i guess hard to see some-one win like this when i know the position your in. I never gamble what i can not afford to lose and only gamble the big races. I've worked for a High Street bookmakers for 8 years in my time as well as the courses and have seen marraiges destroyed to gambling. My sucess on the big races is not so much what i fance but what the bookies don't want to win. With that kind of help, i have the advantage i suppose. Wish you lived nearer..... Drinks on me :wah:
