Her Majesty's face as Kauto Star wins the Gold Cup

Post by Oscar Namechange »

I just loved these pics in the Daily mail of the Queen at Cheltenham during the Gold Cup.

Military Zara groomed to perfection for the Gold Rush on Queen's big day | Mail Online

Scroll down the link to see a series of three pics of the Queen. Ist pic....full of optimism for her own horse. 2Nd Pic..... realising that he's not doing as he should...... 3rd pic as Kauto star beats her horse.

My god, what a face.

What a difference between the first and last photos.

Actually, I see those photos as a clear indication of the fact that the Queen has 'quietly' abdicated, as it were. In the past, she would never have given any indication of her emotions. She is, after all, a complete and total professional, and, as telly psychology has proved, the only one person whom all other world leaders 'bow down' to. In these photos, she is clearly getting some pleasure from her years as a reigning monarch.

Go give that losing jockey some serious stick, Your Majesty. Whip him within an inch of his life. God, I've never seen her look so mean.

I reckon that Diana's death probably took her over the top, that along with her oldest son's declared love for the brute. Poor love. She did her best for England. But that's the penalty of a stiff upper lip. She never wanted the role by all accounts.

I don't think it's so much to do with coming to the end of her reign. She is one of the biggest horse racing owners in the country and really does love her racing as did the Queen mum. I saw a pic some years ago when her horse won at Ascot and she was beaming. If you don't hear the horses name , 'Barbers Shop' in racing again, you will know she's had him shot..... or the jockey :wah:

Oh, don't get me wrong. She's still our Queen and will be until she dies. Just that she would never have shown her feelings through her facial expressions so dramatically in the past. It would have been beyond protocol and Queen Elizabeth has always stuck to protocol within humane boundaries.

She has been an amazing monarch under the circumstances of her term and I will always admire her as such. And a humane queen to boot.

Her expressions therefore tells me a great deal about her now. Furthermore, there is a lot of practical sense in passing the responsibilities of her position on where it is possible. At least we know Philip's well past it so we can relax on that score.
