That Evil Prosperous Appearance

Post by Clint »

I can buy one of those used high end European luxury cars for pennies on the dollar. What a value! I can have the high quality only the rich could once afford. But wait¦someone might think I’m being pretentious or worse yet, they may think I’m rich. Rich is bad¦real bad! And what if someone thinks I bought it with a bonus? My life could be in danger!

What should I do?

What should I do? This thread is interesting to me as i find myself in similar circumstances. I have worked all my life and paid my tax etc etc as well as my husband has until he became very ill two yrs ago. We had some policies come to fruition very recently and after paying that gorgeous Gordon Brown PM his 40% cut in tax. (which he rightfully deserves for being such a wonderfull Prime Minister..:rolleyes:. the rest is some-what of a windfall. We don't actually need anything so the question is what to spend it on. Of course, the 1st thing Mr O went to look at was cars. I was wondering how many runs i could build in our side yard for fox rescue etc etc. To cut a long story short.....I am shocked that some people who called themselves are friends, got quite spitefull. One in particular, i had to spell out to her that we have worked for this all our adult lives. Why are people so horrible when they see you in this position?

Buy a Renault then people will feel sorry for you and think you know nothing about cars.

I hear it at work. A very liberal colleague goes on and on about the expensive cars and houses. It was funny when I discovered her house is bigger than mine.:wah: But the business about cars in never ending.

I don't think I can buy a Renault here anymore. I had a 1960 Dauphine once. The Bugatti will do.:D

Why not get a fiat panda-the kind of car that says a real man doesn't care what people think.

I used to own a cv6. It was a terrific girl magnet, if they burst out laughing when they saw it I knew I was in for a good time.

It really isn't about a car I'm planning to buy. I drive a very ordinary looking pickup and I'm in the market my wife's car. I'm looking at the Audi A8 and if I find the right on I'll probably buy it. I detest false modesty. The whole thing to me is about envy, I think. Why can't people have nice things without others trying to take the enjoyment away with comments, looks and even protests?

When my pickup was new some jerk put a rant under my wiper blade at the hospital because he thought I should be driving something smaller. I caught him and explained the facts of life to him.;)
