Connectivity and the Koan Voo Doo

Post by Nomad »

I suddenly and for no apparent reason lost pc connectivity last night. My pc said I was connected but I lost access to everything.

Reasonably I put a blindfold over my eyes and started pushing buttons like a madman and was able to restore the connection. Personally I think Koan put the voo doo on me. At any rate my printer is down. No power. Wont turn on.

Of course I carefuly checked and rechecked all the connections and found them to be intact.

Why is this happening to me please ?

I desperately need my printer.

Thank you,

Nomad

Well Nomie, this exact same thing happened to me recently. I would either crash completely or my printer would spring into life and yell at me 'Problem with printer'.

I checked everything.

Like you, I'd sit here bashing keys manically.

It didn't happen all the time, just once every few weeks here and there.

Late one night, I was alone in the house and i nearly called in ghost-busters. Out of my speakers, I could hear an old man wheezing in the most eeirie way. I thought i had to be imagining things but i was getting spooked.

Then suddenly my printer jumped into life with all lights flashing and i almost died of fright.

I found the cause....... one very old Persian cat was asleep on top of my printer. Every time she moved or strtched, my printer started up. The wheezing was her snoring.

It took me months to get to the bottom of it and I actually started to believe Spot had put a curse on my pc :wah:

Problem solved. While underneath the desk with my head squeezed into a

3" gap and my left leg caught between the wall and desk leg I surveyed an inordinate amount of dust bunnies. After untangling myself I retrieved the vacuum to vacate the intruders I noticed the on off switch to one of the circuit strips was in the halfway position. Printer on. Dustbunnies gone.

Koan still suspect.

Didn't you see these three suspects on the TV show "America's Most Wanted" last week? They have been known to wreak havoc on computers just because they can. Nobody wants to crawl under their computer desk into a ball like Houdini to catch them, and they know this. Beware!
