Sounds good to me!
This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I thought this was the BEST idea. I think this guy nailed it!
Dear Mr. President,
Patriotic retirement: There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force;
pay them $1 million a piece severance with stipulations:
1. They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings = unemployment fixed.
2. They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered = auto Industry fixed.
3. They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage = housing crisis fixed.
All this and it's still cheaper than the "bailout."

Simple and it would work. All kidding aside and I would receive 1 million dollars. :-6:-6

Yes, it should work, but it's too easy, not to mention, it would put Congress out of a job! :wah:
(Come to think of it, I would loose out :wah: as I'm already retired!)

Me & Hubs aren't ready yet to retire, but would love that cash.

Strange.......................my young nephew was only discussing the very same thing the other day! He suggested £100,000 to each household in the UK. Some of course would put it straight into a savings account, but there would be so much spending on house extensions, and even buying houses. The young marrieds could get on the housing ladder. The potential is amazing!! And as has been said already it would be less costly than these flamin bail-outs, and a bloody sight more sensible!.........................BUT................. the government is totally blind, and the answer is far too simple for them, and far too obvious. :-5 :-5 :-5

Gordon Brown is the finest upstanding Prime Minister that Britain has ever seen. He strives daily on a pittence of a salary to bring only the very best to us British folk. His only concern is the welfare of the man in the street and I for one even line the streets to give him a cheery wave as he goes about his day in the House Of Commons.

Oh, PLEASE Mr. President. :wah:
I hate to say it but it wouldn't be the right thing to do. As nice as it would be (and I would qualify) it would be taking money from one to give to another. Not right:-1

Schooling results in matriculation. Education is a process that changes the learner.

Sorry but the idea of redistributing the wealth is that the wealthy redistribute it among themselves not for everybody to join in. You are there to pay the tax bill that will be due not get anything back. How would the political and social elite be able to be seen and admired if everyone got a piece of the pie rather than them just getting bigger pieces all the time.

So how much of the wealth do you get................

I think I'm becoming a bit cynical............:-3:-3
